i sure like the sound of winning. i got a question. what good teams dont beat bad teams? last time i checked a coachs job is to beat the teams on his schedule. something we aint done in a long time here at lebanon.

Yes...I think he would have a good chance to win at Lebanon. He will get kids out that are not playing or going to other schools.

Lots of info came out today.

They have had between 70-80 applicants for the job. With about 10 of them being current or former head coaches. The rest with assistant experience.

They have 2 interviews scheduled for Friday and are expecting to interview at least 6 to 8 before making a decision. That they aren't in a rush but would prefer to have somebody in place when they come back from Christmas break.

They have the schedule all filled out except for one game and they are close to a 2-game deal with Trousdale County for that last spot which would be the first game of the season.  But here are the 9 opponents they currently have lined up.

Mt. Juliet

Wilson Central

Hendersonville

Rossview

Station Camp

Lavergne

Coffee County

McGavock

Antioch

That is a very manageable schedule for the new coach to walk into in my opinion. You are probably looking at winning more games if nothing else just because of the schedule.

The two Metro Nashville teams below Coffee County on the list.

So you are already counting as a win a McGavock team that beat you 29-0 having only 3 starters returning on offense this year. Yeah OK.

Also, Antioch dropped 32 on you.

Only the coach is changing. The players remain. Problems are WAY deeper than the coaching office.

Lebanon has struggled to beat traditionally bad teams. To expect 4 to 6 wins in year one with a new coach is absurd. If you win 2-3 games you should be happy and be competitive in the rest. On top of just being competitive hoping that the product on the field is better so you can have the expectations for the future. I could totally understand if lebanon was a powerhouse, but let's be real they are not and have not been able to play with the big boys since the 90s. If Gentry gets the job give him a chance...don't have the crazy goals in the beginning. Building a program back is a process and a process takes much longer than 2-3 years.

    • Congratulations to Huntingdon and Station Camp. Lots of good softball in Tennessee. Alcoa been media favorite last two seasons.
    • Im more of a Basketball follower than football and like I said we play what we have, there is no going and recruiting or even talking kids into transferring…..and to rebut about Memphis teams in finals I’ve watched Memphis East and Penny Hardaway with the enrollment of a single A team play up and dominate any and all challengers for years! They aren’t the only ones either Mike Miller and son at Germantown put together that super team a couple years ago that ran through the rest of the state! Other teams from Memphis or Chatt or Nash or any large populated area pop up and are relevant out of nowhere every year because they get an influx of talent be it from a new coach or AAU affiliations it happens in football also just like any other sport! I hope these two schools that close join together and get to play the team you support, then you may see it differently! I find it funny some of you think recruiting and resources don’t matter . The county schools get very little funding also but you don’t want to get me started on that part!
    • In a total classless move, Coach Simmons once again shows his true colors. Waits till the day after school is out to let everyone know he is leaving. Fails up to a community college job after a lackluster 2 year span at GH. And do not tell me about the state run that saved a sub .500 season and plenty of whippings by Cookeville and Lebanon.  Looks like the girls job at GH is cursed. Terrible MS program/coaches feeding what is turning out to be a joke of a HS team.
