pujo
Agree to a running clock from the onset. Not sure the TSSAA would allow it in the playoffs.
Gbnation
We would start our starters I'm sure but they would not stay in long at all before the young guys went in the game. Our coaching staff would not want to run the score up. That doesn't help know one.
Gbnation
Agree to a running clock from the onset.last week against sunbright in the second half they had a running clock with 8min. Quarters instead of 12min quarters.
uknoit2
This could be worked out and game played...I'm with pride tho, if the Unaka admin. doesn't get Unaka boarded and bussed down, they should be replaced...Probably should have already happened! Hey, Unaka has some past athletes coaching in the middle school...HS needs to get their crap together
uknoit2
Pujo, there's not a good answer to this unless GB makes some unreal concessions.
Southtowner
NFHS Football Rule 3-1-2 (Mercy Rule); Beginning in the second half, if the point differential is 35 points or more, a continuous clock will be used. The clock will only stop for charged time-outs, injuries, and scores. The try will always be an un-timed down. The clock shall start when the ball is kicked on the kickoff. If the point differential goes below 35 points, the game shall revert back to regular timing rules. Note: The use of this rule does not preclude the use of NFHS Rule 3-1-3, which reads: “A period or periods may be shortened in any emergency by agreement of the opposing coaches and referee. By mutual agreement of the opposing coaches and the referee, any remaining periods may be shortened at any time or the game terminated.†

91LANDERS
Unaka NEEDS to send at least 11 kids down there to play ball! Coach doesn't even need to go! Heck, just ask Cloudlands old coach SMH +
crazzyness
I for one don't blame the Unaka kids in the least. Nothing good can come of it. The school will be punished and rightly so. Its the people in charge thats allowed them to sink to this level. Unaka has the kids to build a respectable team. Its not like this game could benefit Greenback. An inner squad scrimmage would be much better.I have to disagree. To my VERY limited understanding of the situation, this is being led by the seniors. 17 and 18 year olds. These are young men, not kids. They should realize that their decision not to play would affect more people than just them. By defending this decision, you are more or less saying: 1. It is acceptable to not finish what you started. 2. It is acceptable to quite on your teammates/friends. 3. It is acceptable to quite in the face if adversity. 4. It is acceptable to take the "easy" way out, regardless of the repercussions put upon other. What the players who voted not to play this game are saying is that it is more important to get beat by 40+ points only 7 times while screwing the rest of the athletic program over than it is to get beat by 40+ points 8 times. Their actions are cowardly and selfish. And if the administration at Unaka had ANY hair on their lower extremities, they would prohibit those players from playing on any other sports team the rest if the year, and fire the Coach before he resigned. But I don't see that happening; not with the buddy system they have going on up there.
numnuts
Why not blame the Tssaa instead of the players. What player coach or parent would think your in the playoffs at 1-9 Then someone says they would give anything to feel the playoff experience. Please tell me what experience Edited October 31, 2016 by numnuts
