Tab
I will give Rankins his due he held nothing back and pulled out his playbook some worked and some should have worked. If Russell had been at RB or WR I think EHS would have opened it up more but if that was the case Alcoa would have had more sacks but like I said earlier both teams gave it their all and both can look back and see plays they wished they had back. 32hammer
Good post! Well said.......#5 is one great football player! I agree . #5 could play on any team in the state. Hard fought game until the end. An effort both teams can be proud of.score was closer than it should have been. But credit to Eliz for playing a heck of a game and never quitting. Govolsknox
Am I mistaken or did I read a comment or two by the Alcoa faithful that Rankin held back on what he was showing? I can't imagine in this tight of a game that he wouldn't be doing everything he could do to make sure he advanced? Maybe I read that on a different thread and am getting confused. Tab
Fake punt and A bomb with less than 2 minutes to go when everyone thought they would run the clock and make Eliz use their timeouts. Plus the first play of the game was sort of a trick play.

No hold back at all. The only thing that I was surprised at was the lack of balance in that game. Very little passing from Alcoa. Most of the runs where right at Elizabethton strength in the front 7?? That a hard way to come up with points. The Cyclone Defense was a run stopping machine!! Yes, that is a little strange. Right into the strength of the defense. But hey, it worked! Alcoa had shown it could throw the ball effectively. Surprised like you that they didn't mix it up more.
