Stats alone is the best fit. But teams will utilize their players more than others. You always see posters say "and he doesn't play a lot of 2nd half either" just to sweetened the deal. Your stats are your stats.

Team record? Probably helps but it is misleading. Huntingdon is 10-0, which is very deserved, but their opponents combined record I believe is 40-49. There, I said it. Can't hate when it's a fact.

Character? This is Mr. Football, this isn't Mr. Personality or Mr. Niceness. Just because someone that has nice character doesn't deem them as a favorite over somebody.

Career? 4A, 5A, and 6A players have less of an opportunity to play on the field than 1A and 2A players. A good 1A and 2A player that has nice stats will see limited amount of playing time if he was at a 5A or 6A school with more quantity amount of players and the quality amount of players. That's not fair to the players that play for 4A, 5A, and 6A schools.

Grade level? Don't think so. "Oh, and he's only a freshman" doesn't sweetened the deal. Two players that have identical stats, one is a junior and one is a senior. Are they really going to decide Mr. Football because one person is younger/older than the older than the other? I hope not.

Pearson deserves it. For the way he plays the game, and his stats on both offense and defense. Character does count. On the field, in this award, and in every area of life.  Career....There are Mr. Football awarded to each classification for this very reason.

Pearson has my vote for 1A but I also don’t know who’s on the other side of the state that’ll be in the running. If someone has the identical stats at Kade, then I’ll look into team record and who they played. Yes, the scheduling is none of the players control. They can only battle who they see on Friday nights. Obviously, I have no fight in the race either.

Brandon Moore had 10 carries for 195 yards and 5 Tds plus 12 tackles friday against  3a Harpeth

Coach Reed Harpeth is a weak 3a team that all of the top 10 class 1a teams would destroy.

Harpeth is pitiful. Fayetteville is not a good football team. The kid has some good upside, but like I said last week. He took himself out both years vs SP and didn't have 100 yards in both games combined. SP has some RBs that could rush for 250 a night against some of their schedule. That doesn't mean they are Mr. Football though.

We will see how good they are in the playoffs, a team that likely finishes 7-3 not good? They lost to Warren and Cornersville without Moore. I can't see why all the shade, the east has great teams and GAWBAGE teams nothing in between ,Don't talk about weak schedules.

The east has ZERO great teams. The east has about 4 solid 1A teams. The rest aren't very good or down right pitiful. You're telling us nothing we haven't been saying for weeks. I'm an SP fan, but I don't proclaim us great. We are a solid 1A team, but nothing spectacular. 1A in general is weak. Outside of about 10 teams in 1A the rest are either bad or very bad.

The kid was hobbled in those games.  I remember me and some others on these boards commenting on his toughness and grit while trying to play in the games.  He was all they had and SP keyed on him.  He couldn't even go.   I'm not saying he is Mr Football as I don't think he is but my opinion means squat. But I wouldn't argue that the kid took himself out of games.  Like I said, he tried to go but was unable to do so.

You are correct but the other guy keeps downing him for playing with high ankle sprains both years.

I said the kid had a decent upside, but I saw him take himself out. I understand he has some offers. I just don't think he's the best back in 1A. Just my opinion about it. I've seen him live twice and the Gilbert kid at Greenback is much better. He won't get nominated this year anyway so don't worry about it. I said last week your boy would be nominated. That's great if it happens like I think it will. I just don't think he wins it. I could be wrong.
