Actually SP wasn't that fast last year. Compared to some of their teams from the past 10 to 15 years it's not even close. I'm not an SP fan but I can guarantee you that most of their fans will agree.

You are correct. Our teams the past 4-5 several years including this season isn't in the ballpark as far as speed like you and I have seen in the past.

Well you’re looking in the wrong place

I'm sorry that's just the way I feel. Last season all we heard was how good CA was and the fact they were undefeated. I tried to tell you what was coming when SP came to Columbia. This Waverly team is just as explosive or possibly more than last season's SP team. You will score some, but they are going to put up 35 points or more on anyone in 2A most nights.

i respect bass' judgement.

he also does know his stuff and saw CA last year.

the wild card is that CA has improved game after game this year. waverly has some vulnerabilities and has to travel.  waverly should be favored. but i think CA will play them tougher than LC for sure. and likely better than Forrest. Against Forrest Waverly hit a 4 TD in 5 min stretch to make it 28-6. then Forrest pulls it to 28-20 at halftime. CA is def good enough to be within a score at halftime. then Waverly hits 3 mor eTDs in the 3rd and it was 49-20 game effectively over.

so CA needs to stay close early and prevent the 3-4 TD explosions.    CA will score.

    • I have no affiliation with Maryville anymore outside of being a 2nd generation graduate from a large family of Rebel alumni. That relationship ended courtesy of the lame duck AD (a Bearden grad I might add) and the HBIC. That said, I could care less if a private school comes through and offers every promising athlete out of that school or any other school better opportunities.
    • A perfect example is for athletes at Clinton High School. I will completely understand, and hopefully everyone should understand why they want to, and as of right now, it looks like that’s going to happen in numbers over the summer.
    • I mean, that’s easy to say when it hasn’t happened to your school that often, if at all, but yeah, I think everybody should be for the student athlete or player. Whatever they think will help them or their athletic career, I feel like they should be able to do that, even if that means transferring schools. Now I don’t really get that when you have almost every offer you could want and then jump ship, but what can I say? I guess money talks.
    • I for one am all for it.
    • Covid killed the city because they chose not to play football in the 2020 season. Therefore, kids weren't able to practice and develop, and continuing to lift weights. Memphis basically had 7/8 graders, skipping a year, then playing 9/10 high school football. Now, there's only one team that has made a "dent" which will be Southwind (made it to the 5A semifinals last year).  If you want to go more suburbs, then it'll be Houston, which won the 6A state title, defeating Oakland Other than that, I agree.
