Catholic didn't trail until the last 1:10 when we snapped the ball over our punter's head on his first punt of the game and Maryville recovered on the 10 yd line. and scored. We really shot ourselves in the foot with about 300 penalty yards if you look at the big plays that were wiped out. Several first year starters and guys at new positions led to some execution errors and Maryville makes you pay for those errors. Offensively we played pretty well since not many teams put up 42 points on them.  Josh Brown had a great game running the ball and Bussell exploded onto the scene making a big impression. We should have figured out a way to get the ball in his hands more often that game. He's got elite football speed. We lost most of our defensive starters from last year so the newbies stepped right into the fire. We also play most of our guys both ways so depth eventually was an issue in August. Tough to beat Maryville at home  (especially when so many of the striped shirts are former MHS players LOL but we were warned...)

Honestly I think that game helped Catholic realize they weren't world beaters and needed to go to work. Our schedule has definitely prepared us for the playoff run.

this was a big plate of excuses. so many of the striped shirts are former MHS players. oh please.

No offense to anyone. But how is it every thread on Coach T gets hijacked into a conversation about Maryville.   That was the first game of the year which seems like forever at this point.

Catholic lost Maryville won, Catholic is private playing in public... Blah Blah let's move on.

Back to Catholic vs Central ..How is Central's Run D and D Line play this year?  OR had LB's that flew to the ball I would expect same from Centeal.

No excuses. Blazer asked how we lost and I think my synopsis was pretty accurate. The white hat was a former Maryville QB. The calls didn't cost us the game but in watching the film there were several that hurt our chances late. Maryville made plays when they had to and we didn't finish the game. It was a very good game.
