From what games I have seen I think it is wide open all the way across the board. All 4 games could be tight, it's according to what teams show up.

If Cosby is healthy they can beat Hampton, especially at home, and its according to which Hampton team shows up.From what I've seen they are pretty young, but I also heard that Cosby's best player may be out. This could be a toss up.

I think North Greene handles Jellico @ home. Playing very solid here lately, I don't think Jellico has a lot this season.

I got to see Hancock for the first time this year a few weeks back, much improved from the last few years, really scrappy with a good young coach. I think they can give Sullivan some trouble, did they beat them earlier in the year?

Greenback has all kinds of size and athletic ability, but U high is quick and scrappy. If they play fast and take care of the ball this could be a 4 over 1 upset. But they do have to travel like 3 hours soooooo......

Good luck to all teams, should be a fun tournament, I hope to be in attendance!

Mechanic1, I wouldn't  bet a plug nickel on any of em any given night! They can look like a state final 4 team, then they can play like a youth club team could give em trouble :roflol:

If UH worried as much about playing ball as they did about making gestures after every average play, they'd be tuff to beat...GB has the edge in this one.

Hey cherokee23, does ladykey and that builder have a kid playing the round ball?

I'll take Hampton over Cosby...We have Ned Smith. Nuff said....But then again, they have proved me wrong a time or 10 this season

Yes he plays. He was the 15 year old I mentioned earlier. And our left tackle Derrell Bailey is playing. He was the other 15 year old.

Howdy Uknoit! Yes junior is playing. He’s #22 the 6’4 shooting guard 15 year old Cherokee23 speaks of. The other young gun #50 is the 6’6 big man. My nephew is #10 the point guard/shooting guard (any of the 4 starters other than Bailey run the point from time to time)and he’s a few shy of 6 foot but he was our tourney MVP. It’s not always the size of the dog in the fight but the size of the fight in the dog and the kid knows the game. Know very little about this UH bunch until a slew of film surfaced the last couple of days. I do know I have been in there home gym once in 2008 to watch GB’s 2nd only substate appearance in school history. They beat us 69-60 in a pretty darn good game to watch. My uncle coached that GB team and my oldest was 9 years old & my nephew 7 (junior was 5 & if memory serves me he didn’t make that 3 hour trip on a school night). I believe those youngins cried with the team after that game. I am pretty sure OnB’s oldest was on that team. That experience & season as a whole is one of my oldest’s all Time favorite childhood memories! He got a taste of what HS ball was like in post season play & was determined that he wanted a piece of that action one day. The stars never aligned during his time but the absence of teams like GCA, Meigs County & the defending 1A Champs Harriman has made a little easier path to postseason success this year. You mentioned UH & gestures so you have me wondering if this is going to be a similar experience as playing say a GCA.... I’ll leave on that note lol! They do wear Navy!!!

History says district 1 will prevail.  I like the fact that greenback is in district 2 now.  D2 is starting to get solid, which cosby has always been solid in basketball.  But with these other teams starting to become solid programs, district 1's history of creating a path to Murfreesboro just got tougher.  Plus, district 1 as a whole is no where near what they used to be.  Its only been a few short years ago that we had 3 teams who could win the gold ball.  Unaka did win it in 2004 and we beat them that year.  With Carp no longer at cloudland, I'm afraid the Landers may have trouble getting back there.

Yes he was, that was his first year at GB a Soph (transferred from Lenoir City). He was the missing piece to make that one of our best ever teams.Watching Eddie when we beat Wartburg in the region Semis is a scene OnB will never forget! If the Knox cheaters would have been playing fair we would have had that Hampton bunch at home and we would have been dancing!!!Still makes me mad.lol

Then Eddie turned the team over to that moron.I was very dissapointed in that move.

Yes that region tourney at Wartburb was awesome! The 2nd half comeback on Wartburg was one of the best games I ever saw. The battle in the region championship with GCA went down to the wire & was heart wrenching! My young sons at the time got a dose of life ain’t always fair that night but you keep pounding away. That team is one of the two most successful in GB history and were full of weapons. Probably the most well rounded squad of true basketball players ever.
