Knox West vs Bearden

Not many people put a lot of stock in scrimmages but Bearden hung 60 points on Sevier Co. The Bulldogs have a great offensive coordinator now in Nick Myers but I’m a bit biased.

Bearden wins this one.

West is young on Offense and Bearden is playing very good defense.

West has good LB's, and defense, but not enough to over come their lack of Offense.

I'm picking Bearden in this one as well. I know West is supposed to have a great defense, but I'm just not confident in their offense.

The Bulldogs have a new defensive coordinator as well in Mickey Chait, if I am remembering it correctly he served as the defensive backs coach. I just think with as poor offensively as West is they are really going to be struggling come Friday. I have it on good word that Lamar Brown is as nervous as a long tail cat in a room full of rocking chairs. I'll hang up and listen.

I’ll take Bearden but in a low scoring, close game. West will be better offensively this year, but not good enough in this game.

So, I rephrase:  If Bearden is going to have a chance to win two in a row, this is the year.

I sure hate seeing all the good work Cummings did at West all start to fall apart and waste away. I can remember going to games at West before he got there and there were more kids in the band than there were fans in the stands. He took one of the worst programs in Knoxville and turned it around.

This may end up like that LSU vs Alabama championship in 2012... defensive slug fest as both teams’ D look strong this year.  Echoing the experts here... Bearden has offensive weapons that will win this one in the end.
