That would be about an 8% decrease for TC.

This is it!

Southtowner
After a rough quick glance, Memphis East had a -30% (decrease) in enrollment and that new enrollment number is 345 which is under the 375 set back in 2016 for Class 1A. They are a candidate to opt out and move down to 1A. Also, Trezevant had a -37% (decrease) in enrollment. Their new enrollment number of 387 puts them under the 556 that was set back in 2016 for Class 2A. They are a candidate to opt out and move down to 2A. And Woodale had a -43% (decrease) in enrollment. Their new enrollment number of 458 puts them under the 556 that was set back in 2016 for Class 2A. They are a candidate to opt out and move down to 2A.
Southtowner
Here are the ranges for each class set back in 2016. If you have an increase of 20% or more AND your NEW enrollment number is SIGNIFICANT enough to put you in a different class then you SHALL BE MOVED UP. Class 1A 0-375 Class 2A 376-556 Class 3A 557-821 Class 4A 822-1102 Class 5A 1103-1508 Class 6A 1509 and greater If you have a decrease of 20% or more AND your NEW enrollment number is SIGNIFICANT enough to put you in a different class then you MAY OPT TO MOVE DOWN. ocac
Any way you slice it, there are at least 41 teams in the state that have turned in #s that would warrant a move in classification, regardless of 20% rule. Some teams in '19 will be playing up or down in classification based on the current enrollment scale. I understand the 4 year process. But what I do not understand is TSSAA taking enrollment figures at mid cycle, but not moving teams to new classifications and balancing out the state. If movement is not going to be made (except 20% rule), why even bother retrieving enrollment. Wait until the Spring of the 4th year of current cycle. Now, it is public knowledge who is playing up or down based on their enrollments. It just opens a can of problems for TSSAA. The 20% rule is ridiculous anyway. It affects and moves #s a lot more in lower classification schools than it does upper classification schools because the numbers are smaller. Example: Republic increased in enrollment over 20% and it jumps them 2 classes with only 300 student increase. With Beech increase over 20%, they have an increase of 246 and it keeps them in 5A, with more students coming when they rezone Station Camp kids away to Beech and Gallatin. McMinn County loses almost 200 kids and it drops them below the current 6A/5A scale and they have to remain in 6A, whereas Gallatin increases enrollment and pushes them above 6A enrollment scale, but get to play 5A ball with over 100 kids above 6A threshold. These are just a couple examples of why I think TSSAA should go ahead and reclassify every 2 years. The damage/success to a program is minimal in 2 years as opposed to 4 years playing in a different classification.
Southtowner
If you want reclassification every 2 years then submit it to the Association. Those teams that are on the fringe of each classification will also be a little too big or a little too small. That's why they're on the fringe. Instead of polling coaches and administrators to see if they want to end Spring practice maybe poll everyone to look at reclassification every 2 years. BigStickDiplomacy
Also aren't all the privates going D2? Looks like 2A region 8 may have a possible predicament. Fairley Mitchell Douglass MAHS Manassas Hamilton (drops to 1A if they choose too) Then the potential of 5 more schools in Memphis dropping to 2A?
