I’m not trying to bust your bubble here friend, but he’s not leaving Central any time soon. He enjoys where he’s at and I couldn’t see him leaving to take over a program where he’d have to do another rebuild. I truly think the only way he’s ever leaving Central is if a College job comes calling and if it did and he left, I couldn’t blame him. But I talk to him often and I don’t see it.

I understand its not like college and you just change jobs easy. But I do know he loved Oak Ridge and knows what its about.I also know that Oak Ridge is gonna be down the next 2 yrs but it wont last long.Oak Ridge is the better job in almost every way.Only he knows what he would do if  offered but like I said his name has been talked about since he left.Central is a fine place and it would be hard to leave your kids wherever your at as a coach.

I thought we would show improvement after a poor outing in week one.  I honesty believed we would improve and have a chance to win at DB. Obviously we were worse in all areas, just a poor performance from top to bottom. Except  for the fans who showed up, drove a long way and spent good  time and money to be there and support the team.  The  hundreds of fans, band and cheerleaders that made that trip deserved better than what was delivered on the field Friday night.

Obviously this is not the most talented team we've ever had or the fastest or deepest team we've had.  Having said all that, the most disturbing  thing to me was the  bad body language of our players . It looked to me like they didn't want to be there.  From the time they ran out for kickoff until the time they walked off the field there was no energy, no passion, no excitement, no leadership from our veteran players, no encouragement from the players on the sideline.  They just looked mentally exhausted and disinterested.  Maybe they were overwhelmed by the huge stage that is playing at DB?  I don't know.  But I do know this, we better get to work and get it together quick.  If ever there was time for a Gut Check, this is it.   Hopefully we can go to Campbell County and play well enough to get a win.

oridgecat I saw this same attitude during the HV game. The HV players and standing students were going crazy all night and the Oak Ridge team and students were just standing around. And I know 100 of the students got in free so you would they could have said "RAH" now and then. Sort of reminds me of a certain  "BigOrange" team that embarrassed us all yesterday!!  They seem to have the same attitude!

Where was the WILDCAT PRIDE?

He would never leave central for oak ridge! All of the guys he liked and still has a connection with is gone! He’s definitely happy being at central

That sounds like overall school culture. If you can’t get excited for your team what can you get excited about.

Starts at the top. Coaching needs to do a better job at keeping their heads in the game. I also heard about the body language and general lack of excitement other than the D holding them to a missed FG on DBs opening drive.

I heard that it took the OC all the way into the 4th before he started changing out the skilled players.

Heard the O Line was horrible all night.

Huge issues with Offensive coaching (as usual) all facets.

If you were the HC at ORHS what would you do?

For me, the O:

  1. OC needs to be relegated to running practice, that's it. The Freshmen HC takes over play calling. He was the guy who took the now JR class to an undefeated season. Simple stuff. Current OC is in over his head (again).
  2. O Line coach - needs adjustments in a big way. Start with learning the plays.
  3. WR coach - moved to a new position, waterboy?
  4. Consider using a TE
  5. Ditch the WRs who dont want to play or dont know the playbook. Simple

The D:

  1. D Line needs a makeover, moved 42 back to DL. Romano back to LB. Consider using 66
  2. Zone is where it's at

Special Teams

  1. Replace the holder....no PATs or FGs on the season...do the math
  2. Move starters to KO team

Last but not least - Move the performers to both sides of the ball.

  1. #44 never sees offense...figure it out...RB, TE...who cares...get him involved.
  2. #42 should be playing TE....all day.
  3. #23 should be a slot WR.
  4. #15 needs to replace #2 as starter....should have happened 2nd offensive snap of season.
  5. #66 and #72 should be playing D Line....in a big way.

    • Well nothing new, the Mustangs are really talented again this coming season!  They very well could go undefeated in regular season.  We shall see what happens in postseason.  I think the path to state title game is a little clearer than years past.  I think the Stangs are going to be really good and I think the traditional teams around in 2A are not going to be as strong.  It should be a fun season!
    • I would not put too much stock into the UH over Eagleville. From what I understand they were pretty banged up in that tourney. Catcher was out, they were throwing pretty deep in their bullpen and a few key players were beat up in their infield. Sounds like they are pretty healthy heading into the district tournament. Look at their schedule, they played some really good teams.
