Last year pretty sure Peabody would have won by probably 3 TDs. This year who knows haven't seen a down of football yet. Going to remedy some of that this Friday if weather is good.

Peabody was a great team last year and will be this year also but I very seriously doubt Peabody would have beaten the Mustangs by 3tds. I think Peabody would have been in a dog fight against the stangs.

So where does Peabody fit in for you since Whitwell beat cornersville who beat Huntingdon.

Imo last year it would be in this order

Peabody > Whitwell > Cornersville > Huntingdon. At least as far as last year that's how I have it. But we will never know.

It's not about fit. Huntingdon had a very good team last year as well as Peabody. Huntingdon matched up well with the tide last year and probably this year. Football is about matchups of course you know that. Huntingdon could have very well been state champs last year. Any of the top 4 1a teams could have won the thing last year. Just so happens Whitwell did. Peabody is a very good team but imo not 3tds better than Huntingdon. Peabody was the best team in 1A and 2a last year but they were not head a shoulders better than the top 1a teams in the west or the east for that matter. It's all debate anyway. They don't play one another.

Tide would win. Better coaching & more athletes.

Mustangs 24-2 last 2 seasons losing only to state runner up. Tide struggled with Milan. Milan struggled with Huntingdon. Where are your better athletes, I dont see it. Coaching! We sure didn't get beat by a team like Gibson Co.

Not alot of separation between 1A or 2A last year really. But i do believe when they played their A game they were easily the better team from both classifications.

I wouldn't say easily. I acknowledged they were the best team in 1A and 2A.

It's ok that we disagree bud, that's why the boards are here. The difference in the way were discussing this and what a Democrat would do is I would label you a hater of Peabody and racist against anything they stand for if that was my party. :roflolk:

Lol. I do not hate any team. I get what you are saying. It does make it fun though.

    • Never said I thought it was a smart decision. I'm scratching my head at it too.
    • If he wanted to play QB he should have either went to Heritage or William Blount and had a real good chance there. In stead he'll be exactly what he was going to be at Maryville. They already know who their QB is going to be in 2025 and it ain't going to be him.
    • Easier said than done. The man who ran for 250+ yards and 3TDs is gonna be back….and a lot bigger.
    • plus it removes the pressure around winning.
    • You are correct.   The teacher's pay scale is virtually the same in Knox County, now, as it is at Oak Ridge.   The coaching supplements are still higher at Oak Ridge, from what I was told, but not a huge difference.   Plus, Rusty is going from a position coach to an OC position, which is what he was at South Doyle and where his comfort zone is.  And from a special education teaching slot to a PE teaching slot.  There is a lot of positivity in that move without even considering the coaching aspect.   Anybody who sees something negative here is just looking for negativity to begin with.  But some live in that world.   Really good hire for Brent.  He now has two experienced and quality coordinators and can concentrate on being a head football coach.
