It would take a major catastrophe for Loretto to not be in class A state title contention for the next 2-3 years.  They did have a tough road to travel playing Greenfield and Gibson County in order to win Gold. Although,  if either of them (GF or GC) had lost in the first round, (which could have happened) it may have been different. I just think our Seniors were very motivated from the past tournament losses they've had. Loretto is loaded! Tall as most AAA teams at every position. You guys have nothing to be sad about IMO. The future is bright!

It was the best Championship Day in all 3 classes in my opinion in a while. Except what happened after the Houston/Bradley game. That was disappointing.

What happened after the Houston/BC game?

You act as if 1A/2AA/3AAA are different levels, and they're not, just different classifications due to size. Statistically speaking, there's a better percentage that a single player of great skill could be found on a 3AAA team... I get that. What you don't seem to accept is the fact that a 1A team can have a player of equal or greater talent than the bigger schools. Find a freshman example of a better (or equal) player in the state right now in any classification and we'll continue this discussion.

Not saying that, but in a single A game there is less talent on the floor in all.  They do not have to go up against constant pressure and talent at all positions throughout the course of a game or even a season because of what you said, numbers.  Numbers can dictate the fact there is more athletic girls on a floor same as it can dictate there are less.  She can play no doubt just people are missing my point.  Not about player, about classification.

One of Houston's basketball players threw her All Tournament medal on the floor and after the team got their second place award, she took her Jersey off and walked off the floor.  Coach tried to stop her, but she walked off.

Great single A player, above average in AAA where more talented players are on teams and not just 1 or maybe 2 good players.  Easy to put those numbers up all year when not going up against teams with quality talent.

Just going off this post, and not saying that you're trashing her either, just not giving her the credit that she earned on the floor. If it were "easy to put those numbers up all year...", more talented players would have those numbers, and there was "quality talent" in Murfreesboro this past weekend. She's been (I'd assume) defended by the best defensive player on most teams that they've faced, played at an extremely high level all season, and even stepped that up against the best that 1A had to offer when it mattered most... as a freshman. She's not (yet) the best high school player that I've ever saw, and may or may not get there... she has however earned my highest level of respect for her skill, talent, competitiveness, and heart.

    • TSSAA restrictions for hiring non-faculty coaches have been removed for over a year at this point. In the past a non-faculty person had to be "grandfathered" by being an assistant coach for five years, being fingerprinted, and having a background check run per TSSAA rules... since those were rescinded, the board of directors for the school district are responsible for any/all restrictions on hiring non-faculty personnel. I guess what I'm saying to you is that if you really wanted what you posted, it's already possible as long as your local BOE will allow for it.
