With the money they can pay and looking at what Lipscomb did with their hire I would say its going to be a big time hire, Not a re-cycled coach. Rankin, Quarles, or even Jeff Fisher probably would all be frontrunners for this job. They are going to pay to get big name.

Ricky isnt the AD at Lipscomb and Ensworth doesnt have to make a splash hire. You may be right though.

I can gurantee that Ingle has been asked/approched for years about when he would take over for Ricky. Its a natural assumption since Ingle played two sports for him and Ricky gave him his first shot at coaching as an assistant at Ensworth.

Right Cpa isn't Ensworth. I'll put my money on CPA every friday!

I’ll give you another name that wouldn’t be a bad choice for Ensworth.  Tony Brunetti from Pearl-Cohn.  A very successful head coach who played at the next level and has sent loads of players on to play at the next level.

I will bet BIG money that Rankin will apply.  Be a horrible hire though if they did.

Good Luck Ensworth.

I may be way off base with my remark, but LOD you seem to have something against Rankin.  Obviously, hiring the winning-est coach in TN football history would be a terrible idea.  He shows no clue that he is slowing down. If I were Ensworth, I would definitely hear his sales pitch.

It is NOT his winning I have a problem with.  It is how he treats his players and how he wins.  Publics are NOT supposed to recruit, but he DOES big time!  Also most really good coaches care about grades.  He doesn't.  A good Coach will tell ALL his players about the NCAA clearing house and the requirements to get there.  He does NOT.  A good coach encourages College Scouts.  He does NOT allow them at practice and does NOT talk to them.

Basically his way is all about HIM and NOT about the kids!

My son started for him his whole 4 years at R'dale.  Son and most of the team literally hated him.  Most would tell you what Assistant Coach they played for gladly.  If I had it to do all over again, my son would have been at either Oakland or Eagleville.  Would not have gotten his Gold Ball ring, but he would have been better off for it.

So in a word, NO I do not like or respect him either as a Coach or person.  BTW I have also told him that to his face and would do it again if I HAD to talk to him.

Also ask BA about him and how much money he cost them in legal fees and about the split he caused between publics and privates.  That is NOT a secret here in Tennessee among those who have been around Tn High School football during the last 20 years.

    • Yes this process is moving slower than I would have expected
    • also was told coady auston applied, he served as defensive coordinator for greenfield under don pitt several years ago before going to Obion county
    • TSSAA restrictions for hiring non-faculty coaches have been removed for over a year at this point. In the past a non-faculty person had to be "grandfathered" by being an assistant coach for five years, being fingerprinted, and having a background check run per TSSAA rules... since those were rescinded, the board of directors for the school district are responsible for any/all restrictions on hiring non-faculty personnel. I guess what I'm saying to you is that if you really wanted what you posted, it's already possible as long as your local BOE will allow for it.
    • stop it, rlh. you’re gonna get me all misty eyed and sentimental.    i see seven fairly regularly. ….but slim shady, that’s like spotting bigfoot on main street. you just hope he doesn’t spot you.
