Does anyone know who the injured freshman is for Maryville? Ambulance has been called and they are getting ready to load him up. Saying prayers for him.

Yes I know him. He was moving and talking. His neck hurt when he was hit so it’s precautionary. Thanks for the prayers.

Was the Alcoa game just an outlier or is Maryville running the ball more this year than they usually do?

We still are a balanced offense. McGill has had to work extra hard since the Cleveland game with Tee out. And he had an exceptional game at Farragut to get the record. But we still throw the ball.

Congratulations to Parker McGill for breaking the single game rushing record for the Red Rebels!

There is no way under the sun that 226 yards in a game at Maryville could be the record or those records weren't kelp until just a few years ago. I seriously doubt they have any of the records on such a feat because I can show anyone at least 20 wrong scores from the past in the football program. Instead of scores from the past they should say Myths from the Past. Also Maryville says football since 1926 because they have a picture of that 1926 team except they did have a team in 1924 and 25 which shows up on Everett's scores and other teams also that I have found. Just no one around from those day left to tell us about it. That's why I don't pay attention to all time records because most are wrong due to no one was keeping a tally sheet back in those days. The newspapers sucked back in those days kind of like the News Sentinel does today with no scores the following day after the games that thousands of people attended the night before. They want to focus on Jeremy Pruitt and if he had a bowel movement yesterday or what LOSER quit the football team that sets on the bench and how bad that will hurt us.

For a single player. The record was held by Coach Hicks from the Symrna game in 1995 with 212 yards. Parker had 227 Friday night.

    • RR, you might remember. Didn’t someone hide the kicking shoe that game? It seems I remember we had missed a kick the week before, and we needed all the points we could get. We thought we had a better chance going for two, so $?&@$ hid the shoe after the first miss that game. No one on our sideline looked for it very hard.
    • I will never forget the 1983 Heritage vs Maryville game. I remember driving home and listening to WGAP. Can't remember the announcers name. He asked Coach Story why he kept going for 2? Story told him " Why didn't you ask Renfro that last year"
    • TSSAA will let them all go to Mase.
    • Well nothing new, the Mustangs are really talented again this coming season!  They very well could go undefeated in regular season.  We shall see what happens in postseason.  I think the path to state title game is a little clearer than years past.  I think the Stangs are going to be really good and I think the traditional teams around in 2A are not going to be as strong.  It should be a fun season!
