I guess I’m just on a “shoot’em straight” kinda night. I would much rather Beech stay one of the larger 5A schools than one of the smallest 6A schools. I think whoever got information from the director of schools that all the schools in Sumner County would opt to move up to stay together, got some bad information. I’m certain Beech would not opt to move up.

The long term plan is for rezoning to occur so that Hendersonville, Station Camp, Gallatin, Beech and Liberty Creek would all be at current 5A level.  It may take a few years for this to happen and will depend on if the enrollments do not spike and stay at current levels.  Came from Del Phillips himself.

Which will be interesting if TSSAA does the right thing and goes back to 5 classes

We’re not a state of 12-15 million people. No way we need 9 classes (public and private).

We need 4-5 public and 2 privates classes.

5 classifications and 2 private classes would be the best solution. Good luck getting the TSSAA to revert back to that though. More classifications mean more money in their eyes.

We are back to being the largest school in the county.  SC dropped two years ago when there was rezoning.  Then this year they took another drop when the Liberty Creek kids were sent to Beech.  Those same Liberty Creek kids who were going to be Sr’s when LC opened will never step foot into LC because it won’t open now until ‘22.

Don’t worry too much about the SC numbers.  They will be back as well because they have the largest elementary school in the county and more houses and apartments are being moved into every day.

Liberty Creek going to be a new High School?  WHat schools will take an enrollment hit when it opens?

The only school that will lose kids now is Beech.  There has been a recent rezoning where the kids who will attend Liberty Creek have been moved from Station Camp to Beech.  It was originally planned to open fall of ‘21 but has been moved back to fall of ‘22.

When Nolensville moves up to 6a they should be in with LaVergne, Stewie, Smyrna plus maybe Antioch and Cane Ridge.  That would make sense geographically.  For all sports.  Neighborhood rivalries draw fans and fans at games = $$$ for the schools.

According to google maps, it's an eleven minute drive from Nolensville High to Stewie.

(it's a 33 minute drive from Stewie to McGavock for example, 29 from Smyrna to Overton)

That certainly makes sense, so that probably means the TSSAA won't do it

    • Sorry Barn. I wasn’t specific enough. It seems I’m always protecting the principal at 825. My interactions with her have been extremely positive, but very limited. With all the other stories being told, I’m confident there are other sides I am not aware of. Regardless, there are lots of decent people earning good checks up there. Maybe too good, which explains why no one is willing to speak up. My beef is with the poor communication among the athletic programs and with the administration. Seven years ago the poor communication led to my son missing graduation due to a sporting event that was planned months before. I chalked it up to the system being totally shocked that the baseball team made it out of their district, and our then AD was a football coach. Maybe they were surprised and did not plan appropriately. That was more palatable than they just didn’t give a crap. Déjà vu, seven years later, same thing. Different administration, but same result.  Maybe in seven more years, it will actually be “about the kids”. They should do better.
    • That's a fair line. But if it's not over, that's a big problem.
    • RR, you think that changes this year, or at least improves? I know they had a couple of talented young receivers last year that made some plays later in the year. Defensive back was a struggle against any team that was above average at throwing the ball.
    • You would think they got a bunch of interest
    • You would think with football just three months away more would be talking. There's only so much a person can say about someone allowing the field to get painted without asking their boss who would have said ((((((((  ALE NO ))))))))) or all the other BULLS#!T they've done as they lead Maryville High into the new age of WOKE in a conversative town. I'm ready for some football news without hearing something coming out of 825 that Power Munger has done to cap off the week.
