Some radical steps, but you'll always have violations whether intentional or unintentional when it relates to bus routes, zones, and transfers.

1-Revamp classifications into rural and urban groups. Urban would include Davidson County and suburbs, Shelby, Hamilton, etc. Large county doesn't necessarily mean urban. Reason for this change: Lots of movement among these schools and their feeder schools, as compared to rural schools.

2-End sitting out for transfers even when no change of address. Does it open up a race to "obtain" talent, sure, but it already goes on. Left out are students with no way of moving. Movement would be subject to local school board guideline but as far as the TSSAA, move at will as long as the student left the previous school in good standing/academics.

3-Keep the Division II/private split.

4-The "but" in all of that. Even with unlimited player movement, any school guilty of recruiting would get hammered, from postseason bans to elimination of the sport for the worst cases. That risk would be greater than any reward. Parents would be heavily encouraged not to do the work of the coaches in drawing in such players, also. If coaches know of it and don't put a stop to it, the hammer comes down.

5-After a couple of years of results, realign the rural and urban classes by a combination of enrollment and success. Those schools that have been aided by player movement would likely face off. Those left behind for whatever reason, would face off. After a certain amount of time, do it again.

Dont agree with this.Transfers not sitting out.Would kil smaller schools if u just open the door to go with no movesGreenfied and Gleason would lose players.Bruceton would lose players.LC been losing to Dyer Co and Dyersburg for years. If u just let them transfer, wont be many Single A schools field a team.Gleason only has 19 now.Let them go to Greenfield cause Greenfield may be better kills the program

Some good ideas in theory, but there is no way I'd trust the TSSAA to have this done right. We'd end up being like NJ where you have 15-20 state champions

No way more rules will help this situation. Only way to eliminate this is to either:

1. All transfers must sit out 12 months or

2. All transfers are immediately eligible.

3. Compromise. Every athlete gets one free transfer after 9th grade begins. He/she is immediately eligible at new school. All subsequent transfers must wait 12 months no matter the reason - no exceptions.

3 rural champs, 3 urban champs (equal to six Division I now), then however Division II would be decided.

If they want to go badly, chances are they're doing it anyway and risking their schools' playoff eligibility if it's underhanded. I don't think there would be mass movement.

    • Dyersburg may win back to back to back championships. They are going to be hands down the best 3A team. Plus their District/region/sectionals are not very good. They basically just have to make it to region out of a 5 team district that has a few decent teams. South Gibson will be okay but they graduate their best player and there is nobody in the region 7 or region 8 who is going to compete with them.
    • I remember very well watching things change in the late 80's and yes it's all schools. Most people that are in charge today have any idea because they were raised and taught under this social experiment so they don't have a clue. Anyone that does see the truth for what it is usually try and hide it by blending in so that the School Gestapo doesn't round them up and take them to the Fuhrer ( kindly putting it ). Yes it is all schools not just Maryville. This train ride is not headed in a good direction and if the public had seen a movie of what's happening now back in 1980 everyone would have been headed home afterwards to change underware.
    • Hoping to make the playoffs.
    • You are so correct!  It’s really 99.9% of academia want to change to way that education is not only taught but the way it is viewed.  The pendulum has definitely swung as far to the left as possible and eventually will swing to the right much too far.  I have always  said that politics and one’s personal religious views need to stay out of education,  but for the last 40 years education has been running full throttle to what we have today.  If the social experiment that we are currently experiencing continues it is only a matter of time before the public school system in the USA completely collapses and all kids attend private schools or even worse don’t go to school.
