I like Meigs in this one. That QB is a dynamo. I think South Greene will play their hearts out but that Meigs QB is something else. Every round at this point is whoever wants it most though.

Next year will be a rebuilding one for Meigs, but they have quite a bit of talent coming up. I hope coach Fitzgerald stays there but I know the offers and dollars will come his way again.

I would in no way call it rebuilding.  Learning to play without Swafford will be a big challenge.

I am tired of all of this talk about next season. They will be fine.

I believe this team has a common goal and has worked extremely hard to get where they are.  I don't see any let downs in the near future.

Injuries have hurt Meigs chances the last two years to reach that goal and I think being that close has pushed them even more.

I don't know how healthy Swafford is but watching him play the last several years I would say it would take something major to keep him out and from achieving the goal the team has set.

He is a great athlete and almost impossible to contain on offense and defense.  The newspaper also said Meigs is expected to have their number 1 receiver back who happens to be Swafford's favorite target the past three years. I don't know how healthy he is or how much he can contribute after missing nearly the entire season but if he is available I would bet a couple of long balls are sure to find their way into his hands.

He also has a great team around him that feeds off of him. I think they will step up and do more than their part allowing Meigs to limit his touches and playing time this week if needed.

That's the rebuilding part I referenced. Meigs won't fall apart because he's not there and as someone said there's plenty enough talent returning to compete for the region with just a serviceable qb.

    • RR, you might remember. Didn’t someone hide the kicking shoe that game? It seems I remember we had missed a kick the week before, and we needed all the points we could get. We thought we had a better chance going for two, so $?&@$ hid the shoe after the first miss that game. No one on our sideline looked for it very hard.
    • I will never forget the 1983 Heritage vs Maryville game. I remember driving home and listening to WGAP. Can't remember the announcers name. He asked Coach Story why he kept going for 2? Story told him " Why didn't you ask Renfro that last year"
    • TSSAA will let them all go to Mase.
    • Well nothing new, the Mustangs are really talented again this coming season!  They very well could go undefeated in regular season.  We shall see what happens in postseason.  I think the path to state title game is a little clearer than years past.  I think the Stangs are going to be really good and I think the traditional teams around in 2A are not going to be as strong.  It should be a fun season!
