Most of us are just sitting back and waiting to see who Maryville wants to play and WHY.  LOL

We've got that 100 mile road trip up to Kingsport. If D-B were to win, that would be a long drive from Oakland or Blackman.

4 h 13 min (260 miles) from OHS to DB.

Long road trip regardless. Just under 3 hours to Maryville. I don't think I'll mind the extra 75 mins if it means no Maryville in the semis

I agree,  mt  juliet handled us last year when we thought they were weak.  They were underrated

But look at Hendersonville... they throttled  Mt Juliet  ... Blackman  beat, Hendersonville pretty handily ... I still am not convinced that We play as tough as we need to against Oakland.. I am pulling for the Blaze in this one ,like I do all of them, but I think Oakland wins ...Man I hope not... that taste nasty to say just to Oakland...lol

B45 and MidTenn....

Thinking about this game and I see the talent posts on here...Would like your two cents worth on match ups..

QBs - even with both teams having good qbs....Beam has more yards, but more INTs as well....

RBs - Oakland has several backs, while the blaze have a 1000 yard rusher...slight edge to oakland maybe?

Line - not sure, seems like both teams are solid here - so even

WRs - I gotta go with Blackmans WRs - don't know much on oaklands really

DL - not sure here...help MidTenn - I know our DL is big, not sure on oaklands with warren county running on them well

LB - Murphy gives us the edge - mr football candidate

DBs - probably oakland - i think they have a kid going sec, even though ours are pretty good.

Kickers - ??

QB: Oakland- in a game where the weather will be less than ideal, I'll take the QB who's more accurate

TB: Oakland- Malone is a good back but Oakland has 5 backs that could start at 95% of the programs in the state.

WR: Blackman- IMO, the deepest part of Blackman's team. Lark, Martin and Newsome can def hurt Oakland if they get into open field

OL/TE: Oakland- Pretty much the ideal weather for an offense like Oakland. Blackman has a pretty good kind line of their own.

DL: Push- I think you could make the case for both. Blackman has a line that is better suited to stop the run; Oakland has a line that is better suited to stop Spread/Pass- heavy offenses

LB: Push- Blackman has the better individual LB in Murphy, but Oakland has the better unit

DB: Oakland- Because of their scheme, this is always going to be a position of strength for Oakland. McDonald doesn't get hyped up as much becaise of how dominant Oakland has been

Special Teams: Oakland- probably the biggest gap bewteen units of these 2 teams. An improved performance from Blackman in this area def helps their chances

    • Sorry Barn. I wasn’t specific enough. It seems I’m always protecting the principal at 825. My interactions with her have been extremely positive, but very limited. With all the other stories being told, I’m confident there are other sides I am not aware of. Regardless, there are lots of decent people earning good checks up there. Maybe too good, which explains why no one is willing to speak up. My beef is with the poor communication among the athletic programs and with the administration. Seven years ago the poor communication led to my son missing graduation due to a sporting event that was planned months before. I chalked it up to the system being totally shocked that the baseball team made it out of their district, and our then AD was a football coach. Maybe they were surprised and did not plan appropriately. That was more palatable than they just didn’t give a crap. Déjà vu, seven years later, same thing. Different administration, but same result.  Maybe in seven more years, it will actually be “about the kids”. They should do better.
    • That's a fair line. But if it's not over, that's a big problem.
    • RR, you think that changes this year, or at least improves? I know they had a couple of talented young receivers last year that made some plays later in the year. Defensive back was a struggle against any team that was above average at throwing the ball.
    • You would think they got a bunch of interest
    • You would think with football just three months away more would be talking. There's only so much a person can say about someone allowing the field to get painted without asking their boss who would have said ((((((((  ALE NO ))))))))) or all the other BULLS#!T they've done as they lead Maryville High into the new age of WOKE in a conversative town. I'm ready for some football news without hearing something coming out of 825 that Power Munger has done to cap off the week.
