Tab Vowell will not be the next coach in Milan.

Sorry to miss my "appointment" BPM. Under the weather and spent some time getting to know a couple of Dr.'s... lol! Little better now, but these miracle drugs won't seem to allow me to sleep (which I need). The gentleman you inquired about gets stellar reviews... Discipline and work ethic ( off season cardio and weight program ) are what he hangs his hat on from what I hear. He's supposed to be relentless in pursuing talent within the school that might not want to play otherwise, and has converted some tough nuts into the fold. I doubt that you have that problem at Milan, so more time to work on the fundamentals. I didn't get a chance to hear directly from my contact, but through a third party... I still plan on talking with him directly though. This guy wasn't as sure what his forte' was on the sideline, but thought that offense (spread) was what he did best, and was very good at it.

Yes I have heard good things about his weight program and the offensive production of his teams. Glad you could confirm.

Glad to see you post that BPM! Some yahoo on their thread said "Puckett is a done deal", and I replied basically the same. Felt uneasy about saying anything at all.

It’s amazing what people think they know. Just reading this thread has given me some giggles. Puckett is a good coach so I hope people don’t take this the wrong way. It’s just not gonna happen.

The ones that genuinely think they know I can giggle at... the ones throwing stuff against the wall to see what sticks annoy me.

Guy there now saying it's Rod.

    • Coalfield definitely isn't the same team they've had the past few years. They are still the favorites to make it out of their region because of their pitching. They have 1 arm that sits low to mid 80s and 2 other arms that are mid to high 70s with good off speed stuff. If you can avoid their top 3 bats in their lineup then you have a shot to beat them. Their 4-9 hitters are average at best. Wartburg's ace was able to shut them down last week in the game Wartburg won 4-2.
    • It is the longest season. Plus, 30 games a year. No Christmas break. I would say basketball is the most time consuming.
    • No movement on Chester? South Gibson? Gibson County?
    • Winfree's senior year was the season she needed to secure more college interest. That opportunity was taken away from her. A lot of false assumptions can be made about what happened and what the options are. Unfortunately, the former coach and administration did not allow Winfree to have due process. A lawsuit was filed for a reason, and it will run its course by people who conduct discovery and take depositions. Unless the parties settle out of court, a lot of the pertinent issues will come to the public surface. I wrote about many of the issues here: https://bdnewsletter.news/2023/11/17/grounds-for-investigation-and-suspension/ I interviewed Winfree after she was dismissed from the team and wrote about it here: https://bdnewsletter.news/2023/12/01/a-new-interview-with-sable-winfree/ Winfree had been on teams in Warren County since the fourth grade and never been dismissed from a team. The real questions are why was Winfree dismissed from the team, and why the administration backed a coach whom they did not rehire.
    • What is the hold up here? I have not heard anything in weeks. Are they waiting for the right person or is something else going on?
