Childress discussed that and said the Governor is weighing that possibility. They had a few more weeks before they have to decide, so they’re waiting to see what happens.

But they cant pratice now? or something like that

How am I the cause by posting my thoughts on all this mess on a high school message board? What science do you believe? This is problem..."science" is all over the map!! We've been constantly told to follow the science...where? who? what? It's insanity!

The scientific method is an iterative process that allows us to generate data, draw conclusions from that data, refine our hypotheses/theories, and repeat as necessary. This is exactly why these recommendations continue to evolve, as frustrating as that is.

Sadly I believe that will be the case or after fall break.

Why make that decision today(avoid the inevitable) and continue to give hope and optimism to all of us who want school and sports.

At this point you can't be reasoned with if you think HS athletics can function at a safer rate than Pro Sports and NCAA.

Just for kicks and giggles, how does a HS test students at the same rate like the NCAA and Pro Sports to help the spread??

Stop with all this testing talk. If a kid is feeling sick, have him tested. Otherwise, we have to let them all go on with life. If they are asymptomatic, so be it. We can’t test every high school athlete. That would be insanely stupid, since kids are the least likely to have any effects.

No contact until a decision is made. Just conditioning and working out. In my opinion, July 22 or 23 is a drop dead date to make a decision, so they actually do have a few more weeks to wait. But, they'll need a decision by then in order for teams to start practicing July 24 or so before starting the season on August 20 or 21.

Just let me know when we get a consensus on everything...as of now, we have "scientists" continually on every side of the issue.

Here you go, Bubba.  It's not a done deal yet.  The Governor is trying to find a way to make it work:

Bernard Childress: "We have had lengthy discussions with the gov's legal council in the gov office. ... But we are working with the gov legal council. Based on our conversations, we think it's best to delay any vote on contingency plan."

What does this even mean?

So you are basically saying HS can't function like the NCAA and Pro Sports.

Right now we have leaders who have no stones in terms of making a decision. Make a decision, people will be upset either way but the lack of leadership is frustrating.

TSSAA kicking the can down the road today deserves criticism. If you think the Gov will include HS contact sports to be played why not have a plan in place in case it doesn't happen??

You think the Bethel College’s, Cumberland’s, Freed Hardeman’s and Union Universities of the world have the resources to test? They don’t and will do as HS’s do. Don’t want to hear the testing argument. All schools aren’t like the SEC. TSSAA’s legal team if they have one ought to remind this to the governor’s legal team.

Sullivan Country came up with this for Athletics. If cases are down, then it looks like there is no problem

No to Minimal Spread
• All activities are allowed to continue per normal procedures.
• Spectator events are allowed per normal procedures.
• Each athlete should have their own water bottle, towel, and any other personal
items should not be shared.
• Athletes should not participate in games or practice if they have a temperature of
100.0 or higher.

Minimal to Moderate Spread
• Only sports that can be modified to allow physical distancing for conditioning are
allowed to continue, preferably outside. Off-site, inter-school competitions may
be held provided that face masks are worn during transportation.
• Spectators may be limited to maximum numbers based on state guidance
provided that face coverings are used by observers at all times.
• Schools will consult with public health officials and school sports governing
bodies for the current public health guidance on sports with close contact.
• Students, teachers, and staff should wash hands before and after every practice,
event, or other gathering.
• Weight room and physical conditioning activities should only be used with proper
social distancing in alignment with the Northeast Tennessee School Systems
Scholastic
• Activities Return To Action Plan and local health officials.
• Specific guidelines will be followed according to Northeast Tennessee School
Systems
• Scholastic Activities Return To Action Plan.

Substantial Spread
• Consideration for school closure.
• All athletics are suspended.

They have the ability to create a bubble that HS do not.

Next.

What number dictates-Minimal/Moderate/Substantial tho??

I think we should all just plan on them saying no to football then act surprised if we get it.:roflolk:There will have to be the same guidelines for all schools or I just dont see it happening. One school cant have a better opportunity than others.Right now the media panic is starting to spread again. Its just ridiculous at this point.
