COVID-19 2020 HIGH SCHOOL FOOTBALL SEASON

Recommended Posts

From Johns Hopkins, a world respected medical center...

Can COVID-19 damage the heart?  Yes: Although COVID-19 — the disease caused by the coronavirus that’s led to the global pandemic — is primarily a respiratory or lung disease, the heart can also suffer.

Cells in the lung and heart are both covered with protein molecules called angiotensin-converting enzyme 2, or ACE-2. The ACE-2 protein is the doorway that the new coronavirus uses to enter cells and multiply.

ACE-2 normally plays a favorable role in protecting tissue by being anti-inflammatory. But if the new coronavirus somehow disables those molecules, these cells may be left unprotected when the immune system springs into action.

“There are multiple mechanisms for heart damage in COVID-19, and not everyone is the same,” Michos says. Temporary or lasting damage to heart tissue can be due to several factors:

Lack of oxygen. As the virus causes inflammation and fluid to fill up the air sacs in the lungs, less oxygen can reach the bloodstream. The heart has to work harder to pump blood through the body, which can be dangerous.

Myocarditis: inflammation of the heart. The coronavirus may infect and damage the heart’s muscle tissue directly, as is possible with other viral infections, including some strains of the flu. The heart may also become damaged and inflamed indirectly by the body’s own immune system response.

Stress cardiomyopathy. Viral infections can cause cardiomyopathy, a heart muscle disorder that affects the heart’s ability to pump blood effectively. When attacked by a virus, the body undergoes stress and releases a surge of chemicals called catecholamines that can stun the heart.

Not being smart here but just a real question with what little facts I just dug up . Anyone on coacht that is an historian might know the answer to this but I don't.The Spanish flu pandemic just over a hundred years ago infected an estimated 500 million and killed between 20 and 50 million world wide. Some estimates go up to 100 million world wide. The united states lost an estimated 675 thousand. Now the question is simply what did we do differently to only have such a small percentage of the worlds  deaths compared to this pandemic.Or,did our government just pull a China in 1918.

Everything you copied and pasted is also caused by any lung infection- bacterial, viral, or fungal. Stress cardiomyopathy? That can be from a broken heart, dealing with a relative's death, or just stressing out in general.

Are you making the claim that the 80% of those infected with the coronavirus that have mild or no symptoms will suffer from long term heart effects?  So a virus they don't know they have is silently damaging heir heart?

No, He's making the claim that it's all Trumps fault. That's been his deal from the first post on this thread.

Obviously a number of right wing posters have had covid.

55% of coronavirus patients still have neurological problems three months later: study

Mounting evidence suggests COVID-19 could cause brain damage in adults and kids

Mounting evidence? There's zero evidence. 55% of "China Virus" patients haven't even been tested for brain damage. More FAKE NEWS. Shouldn't you be out looting and burning with the rest of your commie buddies?

And you need to remove the dogs picture from your profile. That's an insult to Black Labs.

Here's a quote from your article. Did we shut anything down in 2009? I don't recall.

And many people reported similar neurological symptoms after the 1889 Russian flu and the 2009 H1N1 pandemic.

    • This whole situation is bonkers. You don’t just kick your star player off the team just because you heard them say the F word; the coach definitely had something against the player, or somebody definitely did. Also, nobody has brought up the idea that the school blackmailed the college to get the college to withdraw the scholarship offer, not to mention that the coach who kicked her off is no longer even with the program; they were fired. I think this is a pretty easy lawsuit. I don’t know if she should deserve that much money, but I think she should get enough money for a full-ride scholarship if she cannot get one after this situation.
    • Oh yeah, I’m sure you are different people just always on the same thread for some reason, always agreeing with each other, perhaps just a bunch of dorks who would like to ###### and moan about high school football coaches do a lot of other students, so you make a football team and get a yell at them. When they do something wrong, but I’m sure you don’t like that, do you?   and I’m sure I’m aware of where you get information. A teacher who was on the coaching staff but was fired after the new coaching and staff came in and realized he actually had to start taking his assistant job a little bit more seriously than just wanting to make a little extra cash on the side, hardly even showing up to most practices, should’ve left with his buddy to go to Farragut. I’m sure he could get him a defensive coaching job, but I doubt he will be there in three years. Looking at the way Farragut is currently going.
    • It may be hard to believe but there’s more people than me that think you guys are a bunch of losers.    I’m sure the coaching staff, yourself included, cursed at a bunch of high school students. Nobody could name more than 3 coaches on staff due to the constant turnover.
    • That's complete BS.  Nobody at ACHS has access to CHS student records unless a transfer is made from CHS to ACHS.
    • Trez's last scandal has died down, so I guess this is there opportunity to be the best 4A team playing in 2A a la Sissy MTN.  At least they won't be in a Z-district with 1a teams in the regular season.
