Lexington and Hardin Co. are both really good teams this year. I’m sure you guys and Creek Wood are too. Will be some great games to watch.

I have been following and they for sure are, 2nd round on will be a tough go on this side of the bracket this year, Springfield always saves their best ball for the playoffs, going to be a fun November!

I hear the CW QB#2! is pretty solid in all phases of the game. Like last yr a decent run game. Fryinpan has seen them and I know he has the breakdown on what they bring.

Interesting #s

CW is 9-0 and played 4 out of region games with combine record of 4-29.

They have avged scoring 31-10 for whole season. It’s 25-8 against our region.

SHS is 7-1 and played 3 out of region games with combine record of 13-14.

We have avged scoring 33-13 for whole season. It’s 39-13  against our region.

I went to the Heritage-CW game. The CW offense is the same as what Central ran in the past with the double wings and fullback with one of the wings usually going in motion. They throw a little out out of it as well. 2 is an very good player but they have a couple more as well. The QB does like to run it a lot. I think all things being equal, Springfield is two scores better than them when both play well. I hope weather isn’t a factor in this game because it would favor CW.

I was Fixn to ask about CW with a 9-0 record. But you just answered it with there strength of schedule there. Of course they must still be a pretty good team to be undefeated. With Hardin County finishing second in there region what round of the playoffs would they get another shot at you guys?

IF...we are able to win the region Friday against CW, we would get you guys in the 2nd round, very tough game for that round...

I like our speed rushers in this game. Will be interesting to see if they can make 2 uncomfortable back there. They like to roll him out at times. Red Hawks like to run read option with a pitch man so our run stuffers and LBs will have their hands full. Need the swarm. Put Gabe on their go to WR. Hope we don’t get the same officials we got in Greenbrier. My 2 cents.

I am concerned with the read option, I believe we will keep pressure on their QB in the passing game, having said that, we have gotten some work defending the run/option over the course of the season.....

I agree. This may be the best running QB the Jackets have faced to this point. Looking forward to see how the LBs do against the Red Hawk rushing attack.   Offensively got to do something about the snapping...at the end of regular season and that is still occurring. Can’t have killers like that from here on if we want to get back to Cookeville.

I'm most definitely watching. The quality of the teams in this region never disappoints. I'm interested to see how the region 6 teams match up this year.

Not looking past our game with Creek Wood at all, both Springfield and Creek Wood will have tough match ups potentially in the second round if it plays out has it should. Hardin County and Lexington are the best they’ve been since we’ve been paired with region 6. That’s why, to me, the Creek Wood game for Springfield is huge. Not only will the winner get a region title, but the first two playoff games are at home. Playing against really good teams, it’s imperative to have every advantage.

Does Greenbrier have any chance in their game  against WH next week?

I figured you would be trying to find a way to get a win next week so you get a 4 seed this morning than worrying about the big boys battling it out for the 1 seed.

You’re mistaken if you think I’m “worried.” about so called “big boys.”   It was a question was asked about teams in our region and I gave an opinion.  Sorry if  you didn’t like my answer. Friday night will be full plates for  several teams.

    • They’ve both gotten worse. I’ve seen enough games to know that.
    • The only two transfers that Bearden has gotten that went on to play college football were a defensive back from Karnes, who transferred here way before the new coaching staff got here, and a running back from Carter, who went on to play at Maryville College. Both players received those offers while at Bearden, and both players got a diploma from Bearden High School. Therefore, they are Bearden kids, and you can’t do anything about that.   The transfer from Seymour didn’t win the job, what do you expect two quarterbacks to start at the same time? He played great on JV when he could stay healthy, and when he came in on varsity, he did great. The quarterback position is definitely going to be in good hands when the current starting quarterback leaves, but until then, they’re just going to be battling it out like every good quarterback competition does. The current starting quarterback has his flaws, and that is in the pass game, but what he doesn’t have flaws is running and scrambling, and if you go back and watch any game, which I’m sure you didn’t watch any, we used him very often, and when we needed a deep ball, we brought in the transfer from Seymour. The starting quarterback last year will be a senior this year, and the Seymour transfer will be a junior, so the Seymour transfer is definitely going to get his spotlight. He may even win the job this year. Football isn’t about who the newspaper thinks is the best kid. The best kid in the position will win the starting job, and I trust the coaching staff more than a newspaper or article to pick my starting QB.
    • I mean, we’ve only gotten two transfers that went on to play college football, one who went to UT Martin came his second semester junior year before the new coaching staff was here, and the other one went on to play at Maryville College, in which I don’t believe he had any interest prior to transferring.
    • An FYI: To see how an opponent has done against another opponent since 2001- go to the game by clicking on one of the teams. Click the G beside the game. For example, Milan: The info will show you the previous matchups and other info.
    • All these college signees went yo other schools for 3 years, were getting college offers then transferred to Bearden. It’s not like this staff did much to develop them.    The BBall coaches son and the Seymour transfer were some of the most talented QBs in the region, and you guys developed them into QBs who might complete one pass a game.
