The truth is that Alcoa and Maryville benefit from being able to suck up all the talent from the surrounding schools. There is a reason why Heritage and William Blount have no athletes or success. They drain a significant amount of talent from Knoxville as well. It's just the way it is.

Greenville does it to a lesser scale but that may change with the new school being built.

AC gets a few athletes from Clinton and Campbell County. 

Halls used to poach all the Anderson county talent in the 80s and 90s. Randy Hall and Jason Julian were AC guys that went to Halls.

This has been going on for a long time. Alcoa has been able to sustain it and benefit from a growing county population longer than anyone else.
