Who will win?

Fun Facts:

Due to Covid cancellations, Haywood was dealt a 6 game regular season, but the Tomcat coaches and players have kept working and have found ways to stay motivated.  Lexington played a 10 game regular season.

Both teams are loaded with talented players.  Lexington's kicker, Connor Wood, is a finalist for Kicker of the Year.

This will be Haywood's 4th straight semifinal appearance (6 overall).  It will be Lexington's 4th semifinal appearance.  

This will be the 20th meeting between the Tigers and Tomcats.  Haywood leads the series 10-7-2.  The last meeting between the Cats and the Tigers took place in 2016 with Haywood winning by a score of 53-40.

Lexington and Haywood have played 3 common opponents during the 2020 season:

The Tigers defeated South Gibson 35-21.  The Tomcats lost to the Hornets 52-35.
The Tigers defeated Jackson Liberty Tech 42-0.  The Tomcats defeated the Crusaders 52-0.
The Tigers defeated Jackson South Side 31-10.  The Tomcats defeated the Hawks 57-13.

Prior to tonight's quarterfinal games, Haywood was averaging 36 points per game while giving up an average of 18 ppg.  Lexington was averaging 34.3 points per game while giving up an average of 15.3.

  • Recent Posts

    • TSSAA will let them all go to Mase.
    • Well nothing new, the Mustangs are really talented again this coming season!  They very well could go undefeated in regular season.  We shall see what happens in postseason.  I think the path to state title game is a little clearer than years past.  I think the Stangs are going to be really good and I think the traditional teams around in 2A are not going to be as strong.  It should be a fun season!
    • I would not put too much stock into the UH over Eagleville. From what I understand they were pretty banged up in that tourney. Catcher was out, they were throwing pretty deep in their bullpen and a few key players were beat up in their infield. Sounds like they are pretty healthy heading into the district tournament. Look at their schedule, they played some really good teams. 
    • What do we need to do to help with Mr. Basketball?  
    • With June camps right around the corner, how are programs looking, reloading, any notable underclass coming in?
