Bonkers I don't like playing DB and Farragut but they have become rivalry games, plus Joe likes to play them. So we're stuck with them until they get tired of playing us. I know Greeneville was one of those "looking for someone with an open on the same Friday night as us" games some have a full schedule. Bearden hasn't been a regular powerhouse so you never know what you're gonna get with them.

Just my thoughts and nobody asked I know!

Not sure why he wants to keep playing them or what we get out of either game except a physical @#$ whipping from both teams. Oh well, the schedule is set and like you said, "just my thoughts and nobody asked". But for the record, I think OR has too many question marks and holes to plug, to play such a tough non district schedule.

I was also thinking but did not want to say it out loud that one may get hurt and we will end up using both QBs. Remember what happened to both our Freshmen QBs last season. Not one but two broken collar bones. Bad luck for us.

Forgot about the two broken collarbones. That was very odd and will hopefully never recur

Just for the record, DB is losing practically every starter from that team in 2020. They were a senior laden squad. Not quite sure what they have coming back, but they’ll look totally different, even more so than us probably. I do know Powell, Greeneville, and SD bring a lot back from last years quality teams each team had. We’re Oak Ridge though, we should never fear or question playing a tough schedule. Even if we do lose some of those games, it’ll only help us when the playoffs do come. Like one poster above said, playing a weak schedule, regardless of your teams circumstances, doesn’t benefit you very much in the long run. Look where that has gotten AC the past few years.

It's always better to hit then be hit. Don't want that physical @$$ whoopin? Better be working hard this off season and putting the time in the gym because you know those physical teams are. If anything OR will see what they need to bring to the table to be the hitters, if you know what I mean.

I do agree that the tough schedule did seem to help OR last year in the playoffs but I still don't really like it. Your point about AC is well taken

Those two teams (DB and Farragut) always seem to have much bigger linemen than OR does and the weight room can't make a 5'9" 210 lineman into a 6'4" 290 that those two schools seem to have in plentiful supply. But I do hope our guys are working hard and getting stronger.

DB’s biggest lineman last was, I think 260 last season. Farragut for them had an average sized line last season. 6’4 290 is a bit of an exaggeration haha. Those kind are few and far between in East Tennessee public classification High School football. Farragut has had a few in the past 20 years, DB as well, but most are well below that average on a year to year basis.

Oh yes, I agree with you. I just exaggerated the sizes to make a point. OR rarely has big linemen and DB and Farragut seem to have them in large supply. My point was that the weight room, whatever they do in there, can't give us "big linemen" but can at least make our guys stronger.

Agreed. We’re actually gonna have a 6’4 (ish) lineman this year in Walker Rice. He started last year at the beginning of the season, but was injured in the DB game (I think. Somebody may correct me on that) He goes about 280. We’re actually gonna have a pretty big line this year with him and #77 returning, as well as maybe Nick Lucas, who is similar in size to Rice. We actually had a 300 pounder ourselves the past few years with Robert Hill. Unfortunately he was a SR though. We really can’t use the small OL excuse this coming season.
