He was a great businessman here for a long time. Was a good man...

The man could look parts up using those old books and most of the time he didn't need a book and would know where to get the part you needed. I use to laugh at him wearing those white shirts and have ink all over his shirt from the ink pens.

He was a pretty darn good fisherman as well.  I remember a couple of times seeing him on the water or when he was pulling into his house with his boat and he would show me some of the biggest hauls of crappie you could hope to see.

As for him being a good man, I think Don Grider proved that during his retirement party.  With everyone gathered around to celebrate the career he had and after he thanked everyone during his speech, his final words before walking out of the building were to for everyone to remember Skinny Frank and pray for him.  I believe that Frank was having his foot amputated the next day and instead of making the night about himself, Coach had his old friend at the front of his mind.

I remember that as well. He showed me his fish a couple times as well when I was a kid.

    • Yeah, we came up short. I remember we threw a ball over the middle to #5 Guymon? and he came up short of the sticks. Gave em he&& for a bit though.
    • Doe dee doe doe…..hmmmmmmm one of those players can run faster than my lawnmower when I put it in 5th gear turbo.  You can bet the lawnmower on that.
    • Yeah I am on board and plan on coming down from the Ridge for some home games, great Friday night atmosphere there.  I'm really hoping SC can get them back going and have some success for those fans and community.
    • Yep I was field level on the scoreboard end throwing ball with Benny when we had that brief lead. Everybody got very excited but it was short lived as Murvil regrouped and went into machine mode. But yeah,  that hit sounded like the crack of a black powder rifle being fire.  I believe Dozier took one like that as a Soph up at Greeneville after on olay block.
    • Ole Benny boy lol. I forgot about Harder. He was tough as crap. He graduated in ‘09. I went to the OR/Maryville game that year (great game, btw) and he collided with Jacob West (I think was his name) and you could hear it clearly at the top of the visitor bleachers. Man, it was a stick. He could lay some wood son. All those guys were tough, Elliott included.
