17 gas stations and twice as many traffic lights. Cedar and Elm had traffic lights everywhere. That includes the one by city hall that was red on top and green on bottom if you were traveling 3rd Street and green on top and red on bottom if you were traveling on Elm... If you were color blind then you were in trouble.

LOL - I remember that. The original Walker Auto Parts used to be back there, before it was moved out to Cedar down by the school. I think it's an open space now next to the fire dept.

One of my cousins is a Jasper alumni.  He is color blind and got stopped for running that upside down light several times.   BTW, we may or may not have known where the switches to turn the lights off were located. That was a fun exercise at midnight.
