After seeing what they did to Farragut with out the recruit they dang pretty good team. If one of there best receivers was out which I saw a kid in a walking boot. They still had 4 other receivers that were pretty dang good along with the running back.

Ayden maybe the best WR in the state this year.

I know Powell has a very good team, and I for one am looking forward to next week's match up at Powell as the Anderson County Mavericks come over the hill.  Last season , it came down to the last play of the game, and both teams return basically their whole team from last season.  I know Powell got a huge pick up on the DL, so with that being said they have an advantage there.  However, I think any Powell fan will agree that this was the best game they saw last season, and  I can't wait to watch this one .   Potts and Martinez will put on a show for sure.  They are good friends as I understand having competed against each other on the 7v7 circuits, and are very familiar with the personnel  on both teams.  I know Powell has some great receivers with offers from everywhere, but they were same group that lined up against the same group of corners that AC had last season, so that should be another great game inside the game to watch.  I know AC  has thrown the ball all winter, so they should be very efficient at that.  Gavin Noe is a bruising 220 pound back that can move.  He will be another part of the game that fans will be watching.  Powell should open all the parking they have next Friday as I would expect a Giant crowd to come see this game.  I look for this to be the game of the night next Friday.  I am not picking scores, but I am saying this game may be one you won't want to miss.

They all have recent ex-UT coaches on their staff?

In today world kids are going to try and play at the best places so they can be seen just the way it is now. You have two power house schools within a mile of each other in Alcoa and Maryville. Great programs with great coaches and winning State Championship like there are. Catholic was getting all the UT coaches kids. Times have changed for high school football now way it is.

Watched a replay of last year's game on Diamond Clear this morning. Noe is tough, but the difference this year is that Powell's D-line will be as big or bigger than AC. Wasn't the case last year, AC line had their way with Powell's D-line. Going to be a great game, but I look for Powell to win by a couple scores.

Actually they are 4 miles apart, not a mile.

But point taken.

Exactly. Powell's defensive line was very undersized last year, and they were pushed around all season long. If they can improve even a little bit up front, that is going to be a big difference maker for the Panthers this year.

It will def. be standing room only.  The last 2 years they have played, both games came down to the wire.  It will def. be one to watch!

    • They’ve both gotten worse. I’ve seen enough games to know that.
    • The only two transfers that Bearden has gotten that went on to play college football were a defensive back from Karnes, who transferred here way before the new coaching staff got here, and a running back from Carter, who went on to play at Maryville College. Both players received those offers while at Bearden, and both players got a diploma from Bearden High School. Therefore, they are Bearden kids, and you can’t do anything about that.   The transfer from Seymour didn’t win the job, what do you expect two quarterbacks to start at the same time? He played great on JV when he could stay healthy, and when he came in on varsity, he did great. The quarterback position is definitely going to be in good hands when the current starting quarterback leaves, but until then, they’re just going to be battling it out like every good quarterback competition does. The current starting quarterback has his flaws, and that is in the pass game, but what he doesn’t have flaws is running and scrambling, and if you go back and watch any game, which I’m sure you didn’t watch any, we used him very often, and when we needed a deep ball, we brought in the transfer from Seymour. The starting quarterback last year will be a senior this year, and the Seymour transfer will be a junior, so the Seymour transfer is definitely going to get his spotlight. He may even win the job this year. Football isn’t about who the newspaper thinks is the best kid. The best kid in the position will win the starting job, and I trust the coaching staff more than a newspaper or article to pick my starting QB.
    • I mean, we’ve only gotten two transfers that went on to play college football, one who went to UT Martin came his second semester junior year before the new coaching staff was here, and the other one went on to play at Maryville College, in which I don’t believe he had any interest prior to transferring.
    • An FYI: To see how an opponent has done against another opponent since 2001- go to the game by clicking on one of the teams. Click the G beside the game. For example, Milan: The info will show you the previous matchups and other info.
    • All these college signees went yo other schools for 3 years, were getting college offers then transferred to Bearden. It’s not like this staff did much to develop them.    The BBall coaches son and the Seymour transfer were some of the most talented QBs in the region, and you guys developed them into QBs who might complete one pass a game.
