There are twenty-seven 4A teams in the western part of the state.  Just for the fun of it, I went through the power ratings, and ranked them from one to twenty-seven.  It will be interesting to see how Moore's ratings play out through the season.  I may have made some mistakes.  If I did, please forgive me.

The number following the team's name is the team's power rating.  The number in parentheses indicates where Moore ranks them among all of the teams in the state, and the last number indicates the team's region.

Of course I know the game is played on the field not through polls and ratings.  Anything can happen on any given night.

One last comment...since they didn't play last year, I don't know how anyone can actually determine any kind of power ratings for the Shelby County schools.

I guess Sonny Moore can predict things like Haywood's Jaylin Lewis moving to offense and having 224 yards receiving in a half. Or a new soph receiver Haywood has off the basketball team who is a breakout star. Or Cordero Walker actually playing like a senior at qb. My guess is he has never seen any of these teams play. As a former decades long sports writer, I can attest that most have first hand knowledge of only a team or two. First I read that Walker's 7 on 7 performance didn't matter because it wasn't real football. So unless I am wrong, Henry County is predicted to be great in 5A and played its best to win the other night. I've been on the sidelines every Friday night for four decades or more and I feel somewhat qualified, but never compare teams or comment til I see them play.

Based on Sonny's rating, Region 5-4A has the No. 1 team, three of the top six teams and four of the top 11. Is 5-4A the strongest 4A region in the state?

FYI. Tullahoma beat Franklin County 38-5 in scrimmage Friday night. The Wildcats have outscored Warren and Franklin County 80-5 over the last two scrimmages. Tullahoma will be tested when it travels to 6A Shelbyville Thursday at 7pm

All Tullahoma games will be broadcast audio on 93.9 The Duck, 939theduck.com, The Duck app, and the LightTube Sports Network YouTube channel. TV broadcast is live video in Tullahoma on LightTube channel 23.

As far as I am concerned, you're preaching to the choir.  I agree with what you say.  There is no way a computer, or statistician,  can take into account the emotional or physical state of a player or a team, injuries, changes in the line-up, new players, what the weather conditions will be, etc...

I did say,  "It will be interesting to see how Moore's ratings play out through the season." That should imply that I expect those ratings to change a good deal once the season is over.  I also said,  "Of course I know the game is played on the field not through polls and ratings.  Anything can happen on any given night."  That should indicate that I don't place a lot of store in what the pollsters have to say no matter if it's before, during, or after the season.

As a former decades long sportswriter,  you should realize that for whatever reason, sports fans like to look at and discuss polls.  You should also realize it's all in good fun.  Let's just sit back and enjoy watching the Tomcats prove them wrong!

Should be a dandy, I was really impressed with Shelbyville last Friday!

Shelbyville will definitely be a test.

All the top teams pretty much showed out this past Friday and Saturday. This week should start showing who is a contender and who is a pretender

This will be a big game for us. I think we should have all our kids playing this Friday if I’m not mistaken. MBA is going to tell us a lot about ourselves win or lose.
