#1 Meigs County @ #4 Marion County

Recommended Posts

I have so much respect for Coach Fitz and the entire Meigs staff.  Having an off week to prepare and rest up may prove crucial - but the Marion offense is not that complicated.  As has already been said - big question for me is can Meigs contain the basic Marion offense with their powerful line as well as their fast and hard running backs.  I think that they mostly will be able to do just that.  Meig's punter is a weapon - Tyner saw that first hand.  This will probably be a field position game.  I lean towards Marion being able to break a few big plays and pull out the victory but Coach Fitz and his team will fight and they may have another trick or two up their sleeves and pull this game out.  Good luck to both teams.  Maybe we can pull an upset in round 1 and get a rematch with the winner.

Meigs had an off week??I was on the fence but now I'm leaning towards Marion. Some may like off weeks but I personally think they kill a teams momentum.

Appreciate the nod friend. This is the best team you have had since 17 and I'm not sure this team isn't better. I'd be surprised if you didn't make it to round 2.

Wouldn't say we had momentum. We had a gut check at the very least. We will be fine.

I hope you will but the off weeks do more harm than good.

I'm for it considering the type game we just had. Our game with Tyner was a playoff caliber game and not necessarily rest but healing was probably needed. We normally play just fine after being off a week.

I agree. I dont know if it was senior night or just lack of quality opponents prior to facing the Rams but our Offense is a lot better than it  showed that night.

Run D was solid as always minus couple of tough runs. Tyner has a great running back to go with a solid passing attack.

I expect Tyner to give H2O or TC all they can handle

I believe when we played them it said 6'4. I know he made our guys look small. But he was not very mobile. I dont believe he attempted to run at all.  And he ate us up the first half and was on target. We couldn't get pressure.

Second half we started hitting him and getting pressure and it was a different story. It looked like the so called Mr. Football contender from South Green last year when we played them. He was underthrowing and overthrowing and had only one big pass for long yardage that was nice and the TD in the corner on 4th down.

He will be a great next year. If he was more mobile would be very hard to stop.

He’s a heavy joker too isn’t he? Looks that way on video for sure!

    • The Girls Basketball team I am a part of played for a gold ball this season. One of the biggest differences in the sports is that there is no field prep/maintenance in basketball.   Our baseball is successful and play 30 games in the regular season as well. All of the teams dedicate A LOT of time in preparing for their next opponent.
    • Im pretty excited about the new rules that NFHS voted to adopt. Does anyone know if this will take place in Tennessee starting this year? I think I heard/read somewhere that the TSSAA bi-laws say they have to mirror what the NFHS does, and when the NFHS offered the current weight classes as options, TSSAA didn’t adopt them until NFHS made them official. Did NFHS make these changes official starting next season or will it be similar to the weight classes where TSSAA doesn’t change what they are doing until it is  an officially official part of the NFHS rule book? It’ll be interesting to see if it is rolled out for the new TSSAA Middle School season and I saw a post where the youth wrestling in TN was going to vote on adopting it as well.  I’ll pray for all the youth coaches that will have to shoulder the confusion from all those crazy #### parents who already think they know the rules more than everyone else  . Imagine the first time their kid is taken down and a 3 goes up on the scoreboard or their kid gets pinned with only one point of contact in the cylinder. Their heads might explode. i kid, I kid. Sort of. I’m surprised ride time was brought down with all the other changes. I know some argue that it promotes stalling on top, but its been an official scoring method in college forever, so I figure it must be doing something right. Do any of you think that’ll ever be implemented?
