How are all three of these true at the same time? They can't operate like the rest when they're doing something that has never been done before and for good reason hasn't been done.

So what are they doing?  A hire hasn't been made yet.

Monitoring this on here and in other venues has been totally fascinating

Booster club allegedly livid and assistant coaches have apparently claimed they won't be back

Unrelated... But are there other HS Football forums?

Doomsday scenario for BHS. County actually does approve Jones hire...no former assistants agree to coach, but all stay on staff as teachers at BHS. There are no positions to offer and next year's football staff has ZERO coaches present in the building. The former assistants, all coaching elsewhere, have marvelous seasons. The parents, noticeably upset by the fact that no coaches are around their boys during the school day, demand a coaching change after 1 year. Process starts all over again.

There are numerous head coaches in Knox county of smaller sports (soccer, cross country, tennis, wrestling etc.) that do not work in the school.  Although thats normally not the case for sports like football, there is not a rule in place that only applies to football in terms of hiring a head coach.

    • Yes this process is moving slower than I would have expected
    • also was told coady auston applied, he served as defensive coordinator for greenfield under don pitt several years ago before going to Obion county
    • TSSAA restrictions for hiring non-faculty coaches have been removed for over a year at this point. In the past a non-faculty person had to be "grandfathered" by being an assistant coach for five years, being fingerprinted, and having a background check run per TSSAA rules... since those were rescinded, the board of directors for the school district are responsible for any/all restrictions on hiring non-faculty personnel. I guess what I'm saying to you is that if you really wanted what you posted, it's already possible as long as your local BOE will allow for it.
    • stop it, rlh. you’re gonna get me all misty eyed and sentimental.    i see seven fairly regularly. ….but slim shady, that’s like spotting bigfoot on main street. you just hope he doesn’t spot you.
    • Are you trying to say you didn't find Seven and ShadySlim going at it?
