I’ll definitely let you know how I think they matchup. It might be asking a lot for them to be in basketball shape by then but as we know it’s all a pout how you’re playing in February that counts. Hampton always seems to have some great teams year in and year out. Where do all the athletes come from? lol

Well Hampton will be coming in Monday night 8 and 0 on the young season. I still don't think we'll be in full shape yet with the football players, however they seem to be playing good basketball as of late so hopefully we can give Clay County a challenge. This will be a good ball game for Hampton win or lose. Wish I could be there to witness this. I think it will be extremely difficult to beat Clay on their home floor but looking forward to seeing how Hampton matches up with what could possibly be another matchup down the road. Again let me know what you think UCSportsfan.

Should be a great game and I’ll absolutely let you know my opinion. Clay County got the brakes beat off of them by York Institute on Thursday so I’d say Coach Edwards will have them playing with some urgency on Monday.  Not taking anything away from York because they are a very good team but I for one didnt see that kind of loss coming from this team. Hampton always seems to have a lot of really good athletes with size and speed so I’m looking forward to watching them play.

Hampton looked very good. They are as good or better than Clay at every position but one. Strong is just head and shoulders better than everyone in Class A. The point guards on both teams are solid role players pretty equal across the perimeter. Where I feel Hampton has the advantage is their size on the blocks. I thought when 12 got into foul trouble early in the 3rd quarter that hurt them a little from the outside shooting perspective and the post players seemed a little winded but probably due in part to transitioning into basketball shape from football. I’d be willing to bet #32 is a good/great football player.  On a neutral floor these two teams are a toss up. Very impressed with the young men from Hampton. Would not surprise me one bit to see them in the Class A championship game.

The door for the Clay's and Hampton's to get there is and has been open for a few years. The last few years have not been like '14, '15, and '16 was with MM caliber teams in the way.

Thanks, good deal, good to hear. I have heard Strong is a great player and a difference maker. A player like that can make all the difference in single A ball. Good to see Hampton competing with Clay. Games like this help down the road. Good luck throughout the season and maybe the two will meet again.

Unless Peabody learns to play as a team a very talented team won’t live up to the potential!

Yes I'm watching them now.#4 can jump out of the gym. From what I see they have an attitude with one of their players.Complaining to the officials.Wanting a call against small defender.Went to the bench mad during a timeout  and sat at end of bench away from the other players.Doesnt look like the coach has any control.

Official said something to him again.Id bet next emotion will be a tech.

    • Well nothing new, the Mustangs are really talented again this coming season!  They very well could go undefeated in regular season.  We shall see what happens in postseason.  I think the path to state title game is a little clearer than years past.  I think the Stangs are going to be really good and I think the traditional teams around in 2A are not going to be as strong.  It should be a fun season!
    • I would not put too much stock into the UH over Eagleville. From what I understand they were pretty banged up in that tourney. Catcher was out, they were throwing pretty deep in their bullpen and a few key players were beat up in their infield. Sounds like they are pretty healthy heading into the district tournament. Look at their schedule, they played some really good teams.
