I had thought that you could nickel and dime your way down the field with bubble screens, tunnel screens, etc, but that requires great blocking, especially from your WRs. And outside of JJ, the Powell WRs can't block at all. I worry that the longer Potts is out, the harder it will be to keep those guys engaged in the long run. Ayden had a nice game last night, as did Connor Wheeler, but I worry about guys like Redmond checking out permanently (he didn't play at all in the second half). This is a tough position for Lowe to be in, because he has to keep reassuring those guys that things are going to get better once Potts is back on the field. Agree with that. Lowe has a tough task ahead of him.

On the other hand while yes the injury situation does go both ways, it’s not quite the same. Ladue being out hurts maryville but they still have an equally talented ball carrier. It puts more stress/work on him him and it’s not ideal but it can work if it has to. . Vaughn is capable of handling the job. Powell losing QB1 is a much greater impact because there is no one else comparable on their roster for them to replace him with. Nobody else can carry that load adequately. LaDue would have had 200+ yards just like Vaughn did if he hadn’t had the face mask to the shinbone.

He’s definitely extremely talented. I guess what I’m saying is that maryville is deep enough to win even without him. Powell cannot overcome the loss of their QB1 even against equally matched teams let alone better ones.

Don't entirely disagree, but without LaDue to sub in and out they can't give Vaughn rest and keep him fresh. Plus there are packaged with both Vaughn and LaDue on the field at the same time and that creates a completely different set of problems for the defense. BarneySox2007
A couple of weeks ago I might have picked Powell after that Farragut scrimmage. Potts just went to his big play receivers and they were playing over Farragut's head doing what they wanted. It's hard to play ball when their hitting long touchdown passes with ease while your trying to stay up trying to grind it out. My other fear with to much having to grind it out is one of our backs getting hurt which did happen this week and Vaughn got a little roughed up last week. The biggest thing I've seen missing is the deep threat this year but I know they can because I seen it against Anderson County in the 7 on 7 game. All those touchdowns looked pretty as it can get but for some reason we're holding back. That was a great throw for a touchdown while running and hitting a receiver on a shoestring pass last night. This kid threw well over twenty interceptions last year at WB and has none so far this year. Old habits are hard to break especially if you didn't come from the program from the start but came in your last year. The more the boy's all work together the more it will come together is what I think.

I don't have a flip phone, and your attempt at somehow shaming me for my age doesn't faze me a bit. I've heard it all from smart mouthed adolescents and, again, it doesn't faze me. One day you will figure out that you weren't as smart as you think you were. I've seen a game or two in my life and have the ability to think rationally and make observations. And for the record, I am not an AC "hater" in any shape, form, or fashion and a couple of your coaches are very good friends that I converse with regularly. And I haven't been to a game at Powell since 2016, so to call Powell "my" team is misguided. It's not the same Powell High my kids attended nor the one I was once involved with. And I promise you that your coaches would agree with me that you need to stop thinking about Powell and get ready to play a very athletically talented Science Hill team tonight. And for the record it's "you're", not your.

Knoxvegas865
Not a bad showing for Powell considering who they played. Actually showed a better run game then they did last year but that probably says more about where the Maryville defense is this year. Stats from the first half looked like they didn’t do much.
