I am outside the loop on this situation. Did he actually fight law enforcement??

of course he didnt. but the cops have to continue to feed rumors until it seems like he did. its what they do every time. i expect within 48 hrs it will be "WAIT, HE SHOT A COP!!?"

They are masters at PR.  and american (mostly white) families still teach their kids that cops are always right no matter what.

No I didn't see it but asked friends sitting nearby that saw it all so why would they lie . Why would a cop drag a man down the front and then cuff him if he didn't have a reason and phones and cameras everywhere! Think a  little

i think cops abuse power. i think the burden of proof is on them, not "phones everywhere."

unlike some neighborhoods in a place like Macon most people wouldn't even think to start filming a cop. they'd assume the cop was right. in a lot of neighborhoods its the opposite.

cops automatically right. a citizen automatically wrong. scary take bro.

cop issues a command he has no authority to issue, citizen pushes back, now he "got into a fight with law enforcement."

Please don't edit what I said so that people take it out of context. Here is the full quote YOU edited....What you did = not classy!

"What John Ward never did was go down to Florida,  call a game in gatorland, then step outside the pressbox during the game to cheer on UT and then get into a fight with local law enforcement"

while the announcer maybe should not have been handcuffed and knocked down, he should not have put himself in that position to begin with. The announcer has to remember that he is at another teams field representing the school he is calling the game for and the radio station he is getting paid by.He is there to report on a game, not be a cheerleader in the stands.

The lynching mob needs to get their story straight. As the announcer was being escorted down the steps, the man pushed someone down and then the officer dragged him to the end of the stands and did what he should have done! I was there and People started cheering but I didn't see the pushing so I'm not sure if the crowd made him mad first or they cheered after he drug him aside

LOL, can I get a signed statement saying that from you? I guess they just thought they would show compassion and not arrest him after all that! LOL

There were also cameras everywhere the event started thank goodness! Also several eyewitnesses. Also an eyewitness in the parking lot where the announcer was detained and begged to be took to jail and they refused because you can’t arrest someone for cheering for their team!

He is the father of one of the senior football players. Hence the reason he has such passion on the radio for a highschool football game. At Neyland stadium during a Florida, alabama, Georgia, slick rock state game etc. opposing fans sit side by side. They don’t have to call law enforcement when one or the other cheers for their team. A lot of the time they are even impaired by alcohol. Still don’t have to call the law. Why did a cop get his feelings hurt when the safety occurred and have to threaten to arrest someone? I guess Macon co is just shy of being Russia

Not being confrontational, but let me make a true statement, then pose a question.

Truth...100% of LEO's swear an oath to protect and defend the Constitution.

Question...was this guy the 1 of 100 who violated a citizen's 1'st amendment right to free speech, or just one of many who feel that their badge gives them dominion over the public?

Just so we understand each other, I respect our laws and the people who enforce them...those who intimidate and bully under the color of law, not so much.

Sir I can’t accurately answer your question without full knowledge of the incident. As I have learned there are typically 3 sides to every situation. I agree with your last statement also. Just based off post I’ve read here I’d say the officer crossed the line and allowed his emotions to be involved with his duty and if that is true he should be dealt with accordingly. I hold myself and those who work under me to the highest standard and hopefully his superior does as well.

my instinct is to believe this. cops bark out orders they have no business barking which are not constitutional or needed, they just feel it. when people don't fall in line you will see all kinds of evil. inarguable.

You the smartest man in Chapel Hill!
