Totes agree ma. What makes you interested in the defense? Curious what a Knoxville All Star team would look like against the Rebs? :roflol::roflol:

I myself wonder how Bearden will do. Knocked out by West but of course West has the punch maybe a different level this year. Alcoa took it to Maryville. On paper I think many will have Maryville but I think Bearden will be a tough one. As the Mavs play Bearden later, can't wait to see what we can expect.

Poor littull fellurs got hit took two 'em......Aftur reedin' this eye am uppin' Beer-Den two a 77.7 pt. favritt......

The Alcoa team that barely beat Maryville is (IMO) the best or second-best public school team in the state, so judging Maryville for losing a close one to them isn't entirely fair. Does anyone think that Bearden would be able to play Alcoa that close? I personally don't, so that's why I can't get too swept up in the hype and expect anything but another Maryville win. I've seen it too many times before, and I'll have to witness otherwise before I believe it.

Wait.  When did Bearden become a barometer of anything?

Bearden is Maryville's opponent this week, and some were saying that they expected Bearden to give Maryville a super close game or even beat them. I was explaining why I don't think that's an accurate take, even given Maryville's "relative" issues

I know that Bearden has over a hundred kids out for football this year. That's a great number to pick for him especially if you're rebuilding. It also helps if the majority of your enrollment lives within two or three miles of the front door at the school. All Bearden has needed was a good coach. A lot of people may have thought the past coach had GQ's secret recipe but he played on the defensive side for Maryville meaning the only secret recipe he had was for the chicken you get at Kenjo Markets.

He also played for Hammontree, wasn't a player who had GQ as a head coach.

    • TSSAA restrictions for hiring non-faculty coaches have been removed for over a year at this point. In the past a non-faculty person had to be "grandfathered" by being an assistant coach for five years, being fingerprinted, and having a background check run per TSSAA rules... since those were rescinded, the board of directors for the school district are responsible for any/all restrictions on hiring non-faculty personnel. I guess what I'm saying to you is that if you really wanted what you posted, it's already possible as long as your local BOE will allow for it.
