I was one of the ones who stated it during the preseason.  Alcoa will be favored but it will not be a cake walk like it was a year ago.  Giles County is a handful at home and I am sure The Brickyard will be rocking on Friday night.  I am thinking that this is the game that I will attend this week.  David O'Connor & Co. will not just be "shell shocked" like they were last year when the teams met in Blount County.

Alcoa:  42

Giles County:  21

You call it “shell shocked”. I call it “getting beat by a much better team”. There wasn’t one position on the field where Giles had the upper hand and it showed. Glad Giles has earned the opportunity to host this year. Should be a fun one to watch. :thumb:

I mean he has Lipscomb Academy 4th in his Tn rankings when every other poll has them as a top 25 team in the entire nation not to mention Maryville ahead of Alcoa when Alcoa has already beat them on the field this year….

if you read how sonny moore comes up with the rankings, the teams have to be in the rankings to count.  so lipscomb's 3 out of state opponents (one is top 50 in the country) are not factored in.  also, they put some weight on previous years which would mean lipscomb is down 6 games in two years.   IMHO, it is not the most accurate particularly for teams on the rise or teams that play out of state but to each his own.  if it ranked my team #1, I would probably love it.

Alcoa will win big!  Sweetwater was descent at best.  Not taking anything away from their season.  GP was an excellent team this year and got throttled this past week.

Playing Alcoa twice getting killed you don't know if you were over rated or not. Our Def got scored on alot. Offense was great at times. Alcoa has put GP out last 4 or 5 years. Wish Alcoa was playing Anderson Co. And GP Giles.

    • TSSAA restrictions for hiring non-faculty coaches have been removed for over a year at this point. In the past a non-faculty person had to be "grandfathered" by being an assistant coach for five years, being fingerprinted, and having a background check run per TSSAA rules... since those were rescinded, the board of directors for the school district are responsible for any/all restrictions on hiring non-faculty personnel. I guess what I'm saying to you is that if you really wanted what you posted, it's already possible as long as your local BOE will allow for it.
    • stop it, rlh. you’re gonna get me all misty eyed and sentimental.    i see seven fairly regularly. ….but slim shady, that’s like spotting bigfoot on main street. you just hope he doesn’t spot you.
    • Are you trying to say you didn't find Seven and ShadySlim going at it?
    • hey goat! how’s monterey looking this year?!
    • several people actually. they said “snoball, do you know who railbird81 is on coacht?” I said, “never heard of her.” they said, “you ought to check it out they’re getting fired up on there like the old days.” well, you can imagine my disappointment when I came here expecting sharp, witty banter and all i found was more akin to toddlers slap fighting. and what looks like 1 guy/gal talking to themselves with multiple accounts.
