Best 1/2A team ever?

TC 97 team was special. They didnt have a single standout as they were all studs! Honestly, it would have been hard pressed to find a team in the state to beat them. I still remember seeing Scruggs run down the tail back from the back side DE spot for a loss. For those that dont know, Mr. Scruggs played at 6'4 275ish range as a guess. He may have been heavier. The only problem with the stats previously stated, they starters typically only played 2 quarters. And someone mentioned them punting to Monterey on 1st down, truth i saw it.

That team pitched 6 shutouts on the season and most points given up in a game was 8! No opponent scored double digit points all season.

Have you noticed you’re the only one ever complaining about football. I noticed you never complained the past 10 years. Kinda odd. Also went just as far in football as they did in basketball got beat in the quarterfinals.

Have you noticed that even when the football team has one of their best years ever, thanks to the players, that the community still doesn't show up? It's because of the lack of coaching.

Thanks to the players lol. Had Taylor Groves 4* for 4 years most talented team that came through ER was his senior year. How far did they get again? You’re still the only one complaining. Really odd!

Good evening CCLHL08,

I love you, but you're wrong. The reason for the success this year was thanks to our hard working linemen. You probably don't know football as well as me, but watching that line dominate all year(up until they were out coached vs Tyner), was impressive.

So the hard working lineman never got coached ? They knew exactly who to go block with the perfect technique that they all knew on their own? Got it makes perfect sense

Did Scruggs and Payne ever play in college?

Both I believe went to a JUCO in Mississippi together.  They are both homebody's and came back to Hartsville. Typically you will find them nowadays in a hayfield and you may even catch them on a Friday night at the Creekbank.

    • Understand the young thing.  I was one of those.  Barely 17 when I graduated from high school and started college.  But redshirting for athletic purposes isn't doing them any favors, in my opinion.  Life isn't always going to be fair.

    • The Girls Basketball team I am a part of played for a gold ball this season. One of the biggest differences in the sports is that there is no field prep/maintenance in basketball.   Our baseball is successful and play 30 games in the regular season as well. All of the teams dedicate A LOT of time in preparing for their next opponent.
    • Im pretty excited about the new rules that NFHS voted to adopt. Does anyone know if this will take place in Tennessee starting this year? I think I heard/read somewhere that the TSSAA bi-laws say they have to mirror what the NFHS does, and when the NFHS offered the current weight classes as options, TSSAA didn’t adopt them until NFHS made them official. Did NFHS make these changes official starting next season or will it be similar to the weight classes where TSSAA doesn’t change what they are doing until it is  an officially official part of the NFHS rule book? It’ll be interesting to see if it is rolled out for the new TSSAA Middle School season and I saw a post where the youth wrestling in TN was going to vote on adopting it as well.  I’ll pray for all the youth coaches that will have to shoulder the confusion from all those crazy #### parents who already think they know the rules more than everyone else  . Imagine the first time their kid is taken down and a 3 goes up on the scoreboard or their kid gets pinned with only one point of contact in the cylinder. Their heads might explode. i kid, I kid. Sort of. I’m surprised ride time was brought down with all the other changes. I know some argue that it promotes stalling on top, but its been an official scoring method in college forever, so I figure it must be doing something right. Do any of you think that’ll ever be implemented?
