Quarles got all of the glory, but he probably had the best staff in the state, that's not an advantage he would have this time around. The landscape around HSFB has changed dramatically in the 7 years Quarles has been gone, not sure a return to public school would be the right move, at least in East TN Probably would go to private. IF he goes back to High school ball.
1OldPatriot
If Maryville loses to Alcoa (probable) and Cleveland (probable), and beats Farragut (probable), they finish 5-5 and 4th in the region. Puts them on the road at Jeff Co where they Will get a heavy helping of run game. May survive that but it is a steep hill. If ETSU flushes GQ, he will bd back at Maryville if he wants it

I don't see him in the college level after this season.
BroadwayBarberShop
You folks are dumber than a box of hammers. Derek Hunt is the only guy that can get rid of Derek Hunt… He ain’t the problem. GQ will get one more year at ETSU because it cheaper to keep him than pay a buyout because Marky Billison ain’t got that kind of cash on hand. So he can keep making his Dr. Seuss videos and cry like a two year old until Geeker is gone. NO WAY ON GOD’S GREEN EARTH that Q will come back as the head man at MHS. If he were to come back tomorrow, it just might suit him fine to be an assistant, but why would he want to teach a class in that system now? Sheep on. How’s that for stirring a pot?

CaptainGuru
Derek Hunt was the hand picked successor to George Quarles. He will not be fired after this season in Maryville. I am Captain Guru and I approve this message.

Agree, except for the teaching class part. If I’m not mistaken, I don’t think the head ball coach at MHS has taught a class in 20 years. The young ball coach may have taught his first year as the head man, but not much more than that. He would be welcomed back with open arms (and checkbook) if they have the need for him. Everybody has a price and loves their egos stroked.

SheriffofRedRock
I've heard that if GQ is to come back that Hunt would be fine to be a coordinator or just leave coaching all together. At the end of the day whoever is the coach there next year has to recruit if they want to win in the region they are in. It is tough as nails. Cleveland has Riggs Jr recruiting for them, Bearden's HC might be the best recruiter in the state, and Bradley has clearly been successful getting some players in as well. If you don't recruit you will fall behind it shows even the mighty Maryville has fallen from their standards.
blazer1set
So when we are saying that Maryville needs to "recruit", we are saying they need to break TSSAA regulations? Or does it mean something else that is within the bounds of legality?
