No its not a week long trek.  It is 3-5 hours.  That's a whole lot further than S.P. traveled today.  It's easy to act like that far is no big deal when you are the one with it in your back yard.  Moron.

I'm sorry, but I agree with him...I'd rather make the drive and enjoy the atmosphere than be close and it suck.

The field was terrible at Murfreesboro, but not why I didn't like it being there. The atmosphere generated by those in charge there was terrible...I got the feeling that it was a monumental headache for them and they'd rather not have hosted the games. It really should be celebrated for every team to get there, not that it was an obligation that they'd rather not have.

Totally agree. I was glad to see it move on from there.

That would be a pretty cool experience for the kids I would think.

I agree. I’ve heard one of the main reasons it wasn’t considered was how terrible the titans field was. It’s well know their field doesn’t hold up at all so playing 9 games over 3 days would destroy it especially in weather like this. The new stadium will have an artificial surface I believe.

U.T. Martin would be the best location in west Tennessee.   To the best of my knowledge there has not been a state championship game played in west TN since the TSSAA quit having them at one of the two teams home field.  That is unacceptable.

    • He will be ready by start of the season. Conditioning may be a little slow but hes a tough kid. He will make an impact by the end of the season.
    • So you are looking at one tough stretch for an 18 year old?  Seems you are grasping at straws if you think there is much difference between the two.  By the way Taylor was the best running back in the history of McKenzie and he is in the top 10 in 4 career statistical categories in the state.  If you can tell me Mckenzie had a back like that the last two years that took pressure off Surber I might could agree.  We can agree to disagree
    • 2022 McKenzie team had the most talent they’ve ever had at McKenzie.
    • I overlooked Gibson County. They would be team No. 11 for me. I'm going to edit my list, just behind Livingston Academy (which had four state titles, six runner-up seasons and 20 state appearances).
    • A little history on Gibson County. 11 Final Fours. 10 seasons AP ranked number 1 at end of regular season, 3 years undefeated at end of regular season, 1 year undefeated winning Gold Ball, 4 Gold Balls and 1 Runner Up with 3 Gold Balls coming when there was only 3 classifications, 1 Silver Ball when there was only 3 classifications, 1 Gold Ball when there was 4 classifications. 2020 was Covid year and was still playing in Final Four when cancelled. Been to state 18 times. Pretty good resume. 3 or 4 times when they weren't consolidated. Yorkville, Rutherford and Dyer have some history. Yorkville was Runner Up one year.
