They have been the real deal for quite sometimes! I don’t pay that district any attention, why because the district champions in that district probably want make it to state.

Its basketball that they didn’t make it last year! So I am not sure that they don’t make it this year, in the same sentence I wouldn’t be surprised if they won AAA! But until further notice, Dyersburg is the heavy favorite in AAA! Just like last year! They returned everyone! Loss the one senior, but she wasn’t a major contributor!

From the inside I can tell you that the three seniors (two players, one manager) will be missed more than most realize. Each brought a very unique element to the team.

Netala was a very special player in the Murphy Center, averaging 9.8 PPG over her four games at state: Not a lot of players can say they scored 39 career points at state. Some players can simply play under the bright lights and Netala was one of them.

And her hustle play grabbing the late offensive board against Upperman can never be forgotten.

White County was without their 6'3" post Jones as well. I heard she was vacationing with her family.....just what i heard. Summer games don't mean much regardless.

Yea I agree! June means nothing especially if you don’t make it past region! Champions are made in March not June.

Moore County looks very good .  They beat York and Smith County at BCAT.

Moore County was good last year. Pickett was just real good and beat Moore and Wayne County. Probably same three teams and Union City and Greenfield will be there again this year. I do think Pickett will be preseason number 1.

Just got back from Murfreesboro. Gibson County with a very successful trip. Here are some teams I watched play.

Clarkrange: Always extremely tough and fundamental. Lots of shooters and guards. Didn't see any big posts but they were very well coached and fundamental as always. Should give Pickett some competition. Hadn't seen Clay County but they are usually in the mix as well.

Elizabethton: Seem to be a little down for their standards but have some talent but are young.

Grainger: Very scrappy and plays very aggressive full court. Lots of shooters and guards. If they had a real good post they would be real good.

Smith County. Has a big post presence that will be tough for any team. Like Grainger they like to press and and get after it. A team that seems to be on the rise. Has a Freshman Transfer that just moved in who is going to be a player. Good squad.

York: Beatty was on the bench but not dressed out. Was watching the Lebanon game and they have lots of talent. Lots of tall athletes that can take it to the rim and shoot it. Very good team. Don't think they lost a player from last year.

    • What’s sad Barney is the cards in the deck are stacked against them.  With the success the MAVS are having just down I-75, any talented players are heading that way. I always said what the Price twins did there was second to none, making the playoffs and winning a playoff game is the ceiling there. On a great year, maybe a q-final appearance but that is a big stretch.  Finding a coach there is very tough. I feel for the new coach, he’s in a very bad situation and I’m not sure he even realizes it. I understand he wants to be positive and have hope, but I don’t see them scratching a win. Maybe he will prove me wrong.
    • I agree, 2A is the only class in thet state where the west side of the bracket is tougher, not taking anything away from Marion county at all but they should run that side for years to come
    • Should be a big week in Dayton coming up with the 100th anniversary of the Scopes Monkey Trial.
    • AE has a lot of new transfers and a very good incoming freshman class to mess with the current players.  That's why I'm saying don't sleep on AE.  Many are thinking they can't get back to their winning ways but I think this 2025 team will open a lot of eyes and let the state know, AE won't be an easy win anymore.
