McMinn County @ Oak Ridge

Recommended Posts

Excited for this one. OR stomped the Tribe during the regular season. Cherokees will have their QB back this go-round but both teams are hobbled.

It should be a classic this time around. Hoping for no more injuries, we have had more than enough on both of these teams.

What say you?

We just have zero firepower on offense right now with the injuries. I know every team is probably dealing with the same things, but ours were literally to our star players on offense. They are all gone, so I just don’t see us winning, but who knows, our defense is still relatively healthy and pretty dang good, so maybe they can keep it close enough for us to pull it out at Blankenship. We shall see.

Should be a good game. McMinn has figured some things out lately but like all other teams have some injuries to maneuver around themselves. Oak Ridge has always been a great program  showing class on and off the field. This is a game I am enjoying seeing these last few years. I know OR is heading to 6A so we shall see if it continues.

There seems to be a pretty good contingent of MacMinn fans on here. Look forward to talking with y’all throughout the week.

I remember when it seemed like I was the only one on here for awhile. I've been using coacht (not just from this account) since around 2015 I'd say. Seen a few guys come and go. Main one I can think of that wad a big poster you never hear from no more was passive aggressive  idk if he passed away or just stopped posting because of how ooletwah went back to how they were pre 2000. Was a funny guy. If I went back I could name a few other guys but he is the main person I remember his big boy football posts used to get under my skin when I was younger lol

Yeah, he was a riot. Man, they (Ooltewah) are just awful. What happened? They were solid every year for a while. The recruiting dry up?

I'm not sure man,  I noticed around the time ooletwah started going downhill that mccallie and Baylor started to dominate the d2 3A division.  My best guess Is when  Mac Bryan stopped coaching there and they had a couple of bad seasons people stopped sending their kids to ooletwah for football  that whole area of Hamilton County has been booming in residential development so it sort of surprised me how that didn't fill any gaps, sadly ooletwah can only hope to win a few non-conference games because Howard is moving to 6a or playing an independent schedule. I don't see a light at the end of the tunnel for them. This region will pretty much continue to run through mcminn county or Rhea county for most years with walker valley and east Hamilton winning it occasionally to make it more interesting. I don't know think soddy daisy coming back to 5a will translate for them they had all they could handle against loudon and Macon county this year, and most years they weren't beating red Bank or Hixson either. Probably could see them fighting for 4th seed most years

Yeah when Mac left for North Carolina, that was the key turning point for Ooltewah. Scott Chandler looked like he would keep it going by going 9-3 his first year to 4-6 when he stepped down 3 years later. Ever since they have just not recovered. I think East Hamilton opening hurt them and even Tyner has taken some of their athletes they use to get. Plus the private schools get their fair share out of that area too.

I think Soddy will take a step back next year. They graduate a lot of seniors and seniors that played key roles in their success this year. I still think they challenge for 4th but I don’t see them being a region contender year in and year out.
