Wondering who all of y’all will think the next head coach is at Bearden?

Early talks in that Tracy Malone or Duane Hazelton take it.

I know Malone has spent some time in Knox Co.

Well are Coach Malone and Hazelton still the front runners? It's March and l have not heard much on The T. Spring break is third week of March then before you know it it's April then May and school is out. Maybe they are fighting it out on FB, Insta, X, or Snapchat? Some people on here are saying Coach Lane might return to the scene of the crime to get his share or more of that $60K coaching supplements? I thought this would be a popular job, or is it jinxed by the former coaches? Is anyone running the show over there on the Pike? Will this turn into a LC or GB situation?

Does anyone have any insight as to who potential candidates for this job could be? I previously have said that I haven't heard of any area coaches wanting to take the job and that is still true. However, with such little talk about who actually has interest in the job it could be being kept close to the vest by the AD. Honestly, that is respectable but, with it being Bearden, I would think they would be some talk around about it, and I have not really heard anything at all. Anyone know anything?

I have heard the DC at Farragut, who was the DC before the JJ era, has applied and is the front runner.

That's interesting. I haven't heard that, but it sounds plausible. Probably a safe hire for them. Not a home run by any stretch, but someone the AD knows and can hopefully stabilize the program. Does he have any head coaching experience?

Hearing it's down to Scott Meadows Jim Smelcher and Jermey Pruitt

Gotta be Jermy.  Time to move the program Fah-wahd.

From what I am hearing there isn't a lot of interest in the job from anybody who moves the needle at this point.  Doesn't mean there won't be, but right now it's just slow.

I don't think so. He is only like 30?  From what I remember, his dad was a coach in the late 80s/early 90s in the area. Been around for a long time. His son was at Bearden and became the DC and then moved to go be the DC at Farragut. I agree, however, a safe hire for Bearden in hopes of stabilizing the program.

    • Great post. I appreciate an intellectual discussion. I wrote "they" in my reference for figurative purposes. If the shoe fits. Honestly, I was referring more to the parents if I had to label a specific generation.  Only 1 statement you made in which I place myself on the opposing side. Effort and Commitment shouldn't change appearance. Those 2 terms have thousands of years of shaping (sports aside). I feel they are significantly pure when evaluating a football team and its capacity of both.  Maryville and Alcoa mastered the zip code thing you mentioned. When kids enroll there, they fully expect to win a state championship. I know that's kind of big scale and an extreme for the example, but it does exist. I support the idea of the old timers just saying how much better things were back then. I agree, that does nothing for kids. Zero motivational help. I guess I was taking the analytical approach and trying to examine some comparisons across the history of the program. Nothing against our kids in this community. We have some great athletes! With the proper guidance, they can be successful.
    • Based on this thread, the hurt feeling are coming from the AC haters.  When a kid transfers to AC it's recruiting. When a kid transfers to a Blount county school it's not.  Got it. [S]
    • But will white be interested in B Satt??
    • Does he have the speed to move up in the rankings. And what position will he play in college. Sort of reminds me of the groves kids the last two years in that respect, doesn’t necessarily have a position at the P4 level. TE?
