I'm sure a Crockett County fan can help me out on this one, but the 1982 Friendship Wildcats have to be the best story. Student body of 60, used 5 players, never substituted or fouled out throughout the whole tournament series. It was either the last year or the next-to-last year of the school before consolidation.

How about the great Riverside teams that won 60 odd straight games in a row when there was no classification in size? That would be late 60s or so in time.

Richie Fuqua was the star, went to Oral Roberts in their hey day and averaged about 40 pts a game in college, drafted by the Celtics but had blown his knee out.

After they, Riverside, had been so succesful in the late 60s, Fuqua was followed by Anthony "Woosie" Roberts and the winning continued. He also went to Oral Roberts then on to the ABA/NBA with the Denver Nuggets before he sucummbed to drugs.

For you youngsters out there, Oral Roberts is somewhat of an afterthought now, but in the late 60s to mid 70s Oral had one of the best teams money could buy. :~)

The Riverside team of 1968-1969 was declared the National Champion of high schools after a 33-0 season.

During the late 60s to mid 70s time frame Riverside turned out two to three college scholarshipped players per year. Maybe some of the old timers could help me out with some names, I was just a junior high schooler at the time and memory is fading.

Union City won AA titles in 1990 and 1992 and got to the substate in 1991 with what was probably the best team of the three (two injuries to top players in the regionals proved too muh to overcome). .... And, perhaps the best team NOT to win a title was Union City in 1960, led by future Vandy star John Ed Miller was 31-0 going into the title game.

I remember Anthony Roberts from Riverside going against Skip Brown of Dobyns-Bennett in the Buck Van Huss Dome...an amazing high school basketball game...

Anthony Roberts also went to Oral Roberts...Skip Brown went to Wake Forest...that game was in 72 or 73, I think

Memphis Central 1980 and 1981.

Central won the AA state championship in 1980 with four juniors and a senior. The center was 6'4", forwards were 6'1" apiece, and the guards were 5'10" and 5'9". The next season, the Warriors were moved up to AAA and repeated as state champions against some of the finest teams that Memphis has ever produced.

They are the only team to have won back to back state championships in two classifications.

    • I'm not a Powell grad.  I am a Bearden grad.   My son and daughter are Powell grads.   I did radio play by play for Powell, my last year was 2013. I also did radio play by play for South Doyle, and my last gig was at Maryville before I retired.   My oldest grandson plays in the Karns Middle program, so I see more Karns games than I do Powell these days.  I've been to 3 Powell games since 2013.   I don't have any ties to Powell, haven't since 2013.   No "y'all" there.    And the kid you are talking about does have a very good arm, but he's not the QB that Deuce Rogers is.  Rogers is a legit dual threat guy.  The younger kid now at Clinton, or about to be at Clinton, isn't the dual threat that Rogers is.
    • No sir. I watched it specifically and it was very dirty. He cleated the boy on purpose. Apparently, it’s an issue in football as well from what several schools have said. That said, looking forward to a good game 3. ER hit it well in game 2.
    • He is the transfer. 5star spoke on him in their new qb1 series. Didn’t list em as a transfer but I knew the name
    • Gunner Warren was the second starter, freshman. SP #1 arm impressed me last night.
