  1. Coach Fitzgerald is a legend in metro and Tennessee high school football. The congratulations and then disrespect wasn't called for! Coach has done alot for inter city kids. Don't nobody care about Beech and Gallatin in this situation.

  2. Probably part of it was due to so many schools in Shelby County not playing last year. No reason to change coaches.

  4. The championship game results had me down and out for a bit. You were sitting on 666 reputation points. Bad number. I bumped you up.

  5. I don't do social media, but had a friend shared some of the morning workout postings - kids look excited @ 7:00 in the morning. Guess we will get our first look in a couple of weeks with spring ball.

  6. I think about it like common core... I hated it ...3+3 is 6 because it is....not because 1+1+1+1+1+1 and7-1 is 6.... IF it develops the young man and gets them to that point try it... Yeah you wanna win... in the process. What is the worst thing that could happen... a few losing seasons? Get exposed to that because we all get to experience loss in life. Learn to be gracious and appreciative, respectful... Learn to win with humility .... We will all see what the result of this program change is over the next 3-4 years... because the boys will be young men in our community. We will se the fruit of the program and what it brings. I am excited to see what happens. Good things can be found with the right perspective

  7. Travel ball is killing it. We now have 7 year olds playing travel ball. Why? Growing up, kids were playing in their local league organization. And if they were "good enough" then we have them play travel ball. Now, we have more kids playing travel ball. That results in into a "water down" product. We, now see 2-3 of the same travel ball teams (organizations) in each age group. That wasn't the case 5-7 years ago. Going to a "party" with 25 people is better than going to a "party" with 100 people. Not everybody can be invited. Tournament directors don't care about who is at their facilities playing the games. All they care about is the profit they're making each weekend. Sad, but they make money for a bad baseball team to play 3 games a weekend, and go home. We are now at the point where "travel ball players" could potentially be a sub-average High School player. It doesn't carry the same weight as it did 5-7 years ago.

  10. Yep the two teams split the pot after TSSAA gets their 50% of the gate, 25% for each team but the home team pays all the expenses. Officials, rent, utilities, you name it. Can really add up.

  11. Having reread this thread - seems most folks prefer to just do the same thing and expect different results. Since when is a HC expected to come in and keep the former HC's staff? Thinking about what Blaze stated regarding the change from 10 years ago - who would have ever thought that Nick Saban would field teams with a prolific offense and the D would take a back seat? The level of axe grinding I see here makes me wonder if some folks are a little worried that something new might create some unexpected changes in the RuCo football landscape. Guess we will see this fall - I think we can all agree we are ready for a season not impacted by a virus!

  12. My knowledge about Oak Ridge and the past have been from articles out of old newspapers which are online. Oak Ridge is a pretty simple read because old papers started keeping better track of all the games about the time their school was started. Buist Warren was an assistant at Knoxville High at one time before the war and learned in order to be the big dog you went out and scheduled the toughest around even if you had to go out of state to fine those teams. Jack Armstrong had already made a name for himself at LaFollette High then gave up that job to be under Warren and carried on the same game plan. The days when Jackie Pope was at Oak Ridge was the best no doubt from what I've read. Armstrong from what I've read was ready to take on the world and go out of state for a national championship game in which the school board refused and really took the wind out of his sail. I've read papers telling of crowds up to twelve thousand to see Oak Ridge and Chattanooga City during that time and now very few are left to tell about it. Most young people care less about all that stuff which is very very sad.

  15. I'm confident in the source that told me. I just don't believe him going to Lexington make any sense for me. JMCSS made a great hire with JCM football program in Erit Turner. I feel like they would want to keep the momentum in hiring Dancy.
