  2. I’ve watched several games this year. There is NO way I would sign my name and pay my money to officiate. Y’all talk about tssaa needs to address officials getting emotional. Step back and take a look at yourselves. I love the game, I go watch games with no ties to anyone! A lot of times I just stand up. Dont even like sitting in the crowd anymore. You people want to jump on the officials for getting emotional, go back and watch the video of your crowds.. Good lord!! I get it, there are bad calls, BUT there are always more good calls than bad usually. I’ve watched parents storm down steps to the bottom acting like FOOLS, yet y’all want to place blame on the only people who are brave enough to get out there and allow your kids to play the game. So let’s talk about some emotion. I keep hearing they are short, y’all go sign up! Do better!

  3. She’s not going to Macon county….she will end up in sumner county. She has to, so it really depends if she wants a high school job or middle school job…the bashing of a great coach is absurd. Agree kids and parents are too soft these days in the participation trophy era. Be excited you went as far as you did if you’re a green hill fan. Westmoreland people would love to have her back coaching boys or girls. I’m sure she’s a tough coach and demands your best you know why I say that?? Because her teams win! And that’s what it takes to get teams to perform or get the best out of them might take a little yelling or truth talk but today’s generation would rather complain to administrators and force someone’s hand. She will go where she feels like people have her back! Two sumner county jobs of interest that are open Westmoreland high school boys SC high school boys maybe a couple more but not sure and idk about any middle school jobs but that’s probably better for her to see her son play in college, or heck she might just stop coaching until he graduates

  6. Maybe we need to close this thread, don’t forget It’s just a game. Refs miss calls you live with it and learn from it. I hate it for GC because I was for GC but things happen in life. GC will be back.

  7. A West TN basketball fan here who was pulling for GC. I just rewatched the game and checked the play-by-play stats. GC went on a 9-0 run to go up 43-34 with 1:00 left in the 3rd qtr. York followed that with an 11-0 run ending with GC finally making 2 free throws with 2:00 left in the game. That was 7 minutes without GC scoring a point. A scoring drought like that can involve multiple factors. Great defense. Bad offense. Turnovers. Some bad luck. Some bad calls. The technical foul call was an ill timed, overreaction mistake by the official. However, the GC team made their share of mistakes as well. In the end, that long scoring lull was just too much for GC to overcome. It sucks for GC but give credit to York for fighting back and getting the win.

  9. I have never seen a game changing technical called in my life at state that won a game for a team at the end of a game. Upperman’s coach came out and grabbed an official and one didn’t get called against Macon County in 2018 I believe.

  10. Correct. But it also applies to your question of WHY they moved.

  11. And to follow topic. It's no longer quiet in the Meigs camp!

  13. Upset? As a new parent with a upcoming freshman I am Thrilled! We would have been hard pressed to complete for State this year without a good option at Qb and now we are set for the next 2 years! Hopefully by then we will have someone ready. I do know some facts that might ease your mind. Ms Swafford applied for a job at Meigs county! Need more? Kaleb’s brother also played at Meigs NOT RHEA and was all state. He’s now playing college football at ETSU! So for the crying dad who’s son isn’t good enough, how about working harder and complaining less. It’s the Tiger way!

  15. It's very odd that a teacher at the school is on this message board being highly critical of a former teacher & coach that left the school on good terms and that has remained on good terms with the school and administration. Nobody has any idea what will happen with this situation. Who knows who will be hired. However, if Mrs. Abner were to be hired, it would certainly not be good to have a teacher from the school on here unnecessarily criticizing her. It may not be a good reflection on the school to have a teacher on here criticizing a former teacher and coach at the school who spent many years there and who had a lot of success. This has to be someone who knows Mrs. Abner well. So, it would be someone who likely had a daughter play for her. No casual fan would feel that strongly about Mrs. Abner. The casual fans supported her, because she won. And why would this parent have such an issue with the idea of Mrs. Abner returning to coach the other basketball program if that were to be the case? Maybe it's because he/she now has a son who would be playing for her if she were hired to coach the boys program. Who knows if that will be the way this unfolds. However, if this is the teacher who I think it may be posting these things on here, I have a feeling that the school administration would not be pleased with that at all. Old50, I would never tell you or anyone else what to do, but if it were me, I might consider heading back to my classroom and misplacing my keyboard at this point.

  16. I'm telling you RTD, he wanted to play QB for TC and instead he played guard, and tackle... guard the water and tackle anyone who comes near it. That man has got a grudge!!!!

  17. So it’s NOT ok for officials to get emotional but IT is ok for you to name call because of your emotions? I don’t recall anyone saying it was OK. That’s about as a hypocritical statement as you could make. I hope you can find peace somewhere.

  18. I assume that we all like to think that we're more objective than the masses...I know that I do, and can affirm that you don't routinely call out the officials. I understand that they're human, that they miss things that I sometimes see, and that they see some things that I miss as well, so I don't bash them for bang-bang maybe this happened, maybe it didn't calls...what really gets under my skin is when it's not about human error or judgement, but when it's calculated. Both the calls that you are having a hard time accepting aren't subject to giving benefit of doubt, they're either a don't know the rules thing or an ego trip on the tech. Neither are acceptable. For those of you who think that I'm siding with anyone, or biased in who I pull for...I was rooting for the Lady Pioneers at the beginning, and thought that they would eventually pull out to an 8-10 point lead by the end of the game, but I'm also a history buff and know everything there is about the founder of York Institute. They are one of my favorite teams in the state, and AY is one of my personal heroes for what he believed, what he did, and what he thought about "selling out" for money. I can tell you that by the end of the game I was rooting for York, because of who they are and because of the point guard's effort and mentality...she has the heart of a lion, a motor that won't quit, exceptional skills and vision, and it was plain that she would not accept losing under any circumstance. It sure would have been nice to see how it played out without interference.

  19. I'm familiar with your posts and the posts made by the other person from Gibson County. The only complaint I've had prior to and after yesterday's game is that one of you (I could look it up) continually misspells GreenEville. That's how much of a good opinion I have had of both of you. You are knowledgeable and I seldom miss your posts. I understand your complaint about the call, but fair-minded people withhold judgment until all the facts are presented. Will this happen? Maybe. You lost me with the name-calling and persistence that is not really necessary. We know how you feel.

  20. I, likewise, go to the games without having players on the floor. Our local papers have occasional letters to the Editor with the same people complaining about everything imaginable. Why don't these same people run for elected office and get their feet wet? Same with referees. If things are desperately in need of improvement, certain people need to find a uniform that fits and work for the 50 or 100 bucks a game and enhance everyone else's life with their great knowledge and infallibility. It's human nature to complain when things are perceived being wrong, but a little bit goes a long way.

  21. Matt Rhymer resigned today after being hired in January. Another example of why I don't believe that college coaches make good high school coaches. Once they get the taste of college football, a large majority of them are never going to be satisfied at the high school level and will always be looking to move back in to the college ranks. Just my opinion from the experience of my observations over the years. And the ones who lose here are the kids. They have to be put through another period of uncertainty while another search takes place. PREP FOOTBALL: Matt Rhymer resigns as coach at Tennessee High | Sports News | heraldcourier.com

  24. I’m okay either way I’m proud of our team. I can always hang my hat that the team everyone picked out of our bracket went home by us. And getting to have fun with people crying over the officials made it even better. 53 to 50 have a good night.

  27. D2 really? Tn tech really? Ther schedule was nothing short of playing the school of the blind. The only good teams they played they lost to. I assure you they wont walk thru blackman or cookeville! Besides east tn teams are historically weak compared to middle tn teams with the exception of Bradley central.

  28. I was at East for the Clay County game. Each of the Groves brothers got a tech if I recall correctly. Two of Taylor’s actual fouls were dumb plays on his part. He reached in after an inbounds pass on a CC player less than two minutes into the game, and I can’t remember exactly what the other one was. It did seem that one particular ref had it out for Groves. Clay County looked like the better coached team, IMO, and I don’t have a real dog in the hunt. I went to watch a good game. I think these two teams would be close to a toss up on a neutral court.

  30. Hearing the bears decided not to watch any law and order reruns. Heard it was never even on their program guides for the fall. However, im hearing an announcement will be made soon. Also hearing the cliff has their new coach. Should be announced soon. Good luck to both new coaches and programs.

  31. Looks like the Professor, Mr. Matt High, did a dang good job on making predictions for the TNAAU MS state tournament. As good as he did at making predictions, he did an even better job at highlighting and bringing some recognition to the MS kids that will be wrestling on the HS level in the next year or so. Great job Matt and please continue to do this going forward!

  32. Thank You so much Scott and Shane for the kind and awsome words about Colby Dalon You guys are and have been such an attribute to Tn wrestling The only correction i have is that Colby Dalon was a 3x State Champion His previous school mispelled his name and that is sometimes hard to find. As a Freshman he was Colby Dalton who defeated Tyree Bass returning state champ and Trevor Lewis at 145 and as a sophmore at 152 again a state champ. Thank You guys so much for all you do for all these kids and the time you take with these rankings.
