Lenoir City Head Coach Resigns

There is no such rule in the TSSAA that prohibits principals or vice principals from coaching. This, however, maybe a local rule.

That is a decision made by the local school districts/administrations. It is my understanding that an administrator in Knox County can not coach a sport. I'm sure there are other systems that have the same guidelines.

What does the Lenoir city supporters want and expect in a new head coach?

643- I can't speak for everyone but will be glad to offer my opinion on your question. First and foremost, I think LCHS supporters would like to have a coach that is a disciplinarian and treats the players with respect while demanding and earning their respect as well. I think they would like to see a coach that would instill some team spirit and comradarie among the players. A coach that takes the approach that he his teaching 16-18 year olds not only football but life lessons as well. A coach that adapts his offensive and defensive philosophies to the talent he has on his team. A coach that can take the talent he has and compete with most other teams. As far as expectations, I think most people realize you can't completely turn a program around and win 7 or 8 in 1 or 2 years, but you should be able to be competitive in some if not most of your games. What do you think?

Don't tell anyone but, Coach Cutcliffe is coming to LC and bringing Trooper Taylor with him, at least thats what I heard! Of course my source was a Maryville fan.

I don't really get it. I think you are kinda reachin' on this one. I thought Troop was going to Stillwater, OK (Home of Eskimo Joe's) to be the OC for WILD MAN GUNDY. The pay was pretty good (thanks to Boone Pickens). The billionaire OSU graduate oil man. But what do I know, I'm a Maryville fan. Now that's funny...I don't care who you are...a fan of!

This is a message to all of the LC parents that wanted to run Nick White out of town. He is gone now and the supporters of Rebel Football are excited to have him coaching DB's for Maryville next year. He is a good coach and a good teacher and we are very happy that he is now a Rebel just like his brother.

Many years ago, I met coach White's dad and it is very clear that both of his boys had very good parents when they were growing up. The supporters of Rebel Football welcome him back home to Blount County and look foward to another good year of Rebel Football in 2008.

I heard who the new coach is going to be. I dont know if he wants that info out yet so im not going to say his name.

C'mon KEV-O, let's start a good rumour. At least give us some hints (what state , area, experience, etc..) As for Rebel, I don't think ALL LC fans wanted Coach WHite gone. He was respected by many and seemed to be a really good person. The Maryville job should be a good move for him. Some Coaches are not made to be Head Coaches but make great assistants. We wish him nothing but the best and appreciate what he did for LCHS.

    • I will never forget the 1983 Heritage vs Maryville game. I remember driving home and listening to WGAP. Can't remember the announcers name. He asked Coach Story why he kept going for 2? Story told him " Why didn't you ask Renfro that last year"
    • TSSAA will let them all go to Mase.
    • Well nothing new, the Mustangs are really talented again this coming season!  They very well could go undefeated in regular season.  We shall see what happens in postseason.  I think the path to state title game is a little clearer than years past.  I think the Stangs are going to be really good and I think the traditional teams around in 2A are not going to be as strong.  It should be a fun season!
    • I would not put too much stock into the UH over Eagleville. From what I understand they were pretty banged up in that tourney. Catcher was out, they were throwing pretty deep in their bullpen and a few key players were beat up in their infield. Sounds like they are pretty healthy heading into the district tournament. Look at their schedule, they played some really good teams.
