Here is a game comparison and breakdown I've come up with. I don't know a lot about Alcoa's skill players, so it is not too specific. But it is based on numbers and facts, for as much as I could try.

OFFENSE - Draw (Alcoa 42.4 ppg, Milan 40.5 ppg)

Could go with Alcoa here, because the Tornadoes have scored more than 40 points in seven games. In fact, they have scored more than 50 in six of those games. But Milan has put up nearly 5000 yards of total offense this year, too. The Bulldogs have QB Justin Coleman (1951 yards, 23 TD) and RB Jobronski Gilbert (1545 yards, 31 TD) so they deserve the credit.

DEFENSE - Alcoa (Alcoa 4.4 ppg, Milan 15.1 ppg)

Hey, giving up 15 points per game is pretty impressive, Milan - especially when you've given up a touchdown or posted a shutout in six games. But I've got to give the nod to the Tornadoes, who are giving up just 4 points per game. They've given up seven points or less in 11 games. And in 11 games against AA opponents, they've given up an average of 1.9 points. They've had eight shutouts, as well. Amazing.

COACHING - Alcoa

Coach Morris and his staff do an outstanding job at Milan. They are leading the Bulldogs to the state championship game for the third time in 13 years. The program is a top-five contender in AA every year.

Coach Rankin's stats speak for themselves. He will be coaching in his eighth title game in this decade and for the 12th time in a championship game since 1993. He strengthened Riverdale into a 5A powerhouse (four titles, five runner-up finishes) and has continued the winning tradition at Alcoa.

INTANGIBLES - Alcoa

Milan is playing for the fifth state championship in school history. Only an elite list of nine programs (Alcoa and Maryville included) have more gold balls in the trophy case. It's their first trip to play in Murfreesboro and the biggest game for Milan since this year's seniors were in third grade - the Bulldogs' last title game was in 1999. They have, quite possibly, the strongest football tradition in rural West Tennessee.

Alcoa is playing for their fifth straight AA championship, sixth this decade and eleventh in school history. They're very comfortable at Floyd Stadium. The Tornadoes' average score in the past four title games was 43-15.

Silver balls, silver balls

It's playoff time here in Milan

All those dings, for no ring

Soon it will be fall again

On the sidelines, MTSU sidelines

Dressed in bulldog purple

In the boro a feeling of sadness

Milan crashing, Alcoa passing

Milan punts the ball again

Cheers from the tornadoes you'll hear

Silver balls, silver balls

All those dings, for no ring

Soon it will be fall again

Grant it i have not been on many alcoa threads but im on the milan threads every week, and although i do not post much i read every post and i would have to say this is the most disapointed ive been in our coacht fans since somebody gettin on last year and talkin bad about our o line. MILAN remember your tradition and the classy reputation we have had over the years when you post. We finally made it back to state enjoy it but be humble as well. 31-28 (moody saves the day lol) Milan pulling off a nail bitter! GO DAWGS

BULLDOGGIRL03 its looks like every Milan fan looked over this post. BCsportsFan was just trying to point out a few facts. Milan schedule was weak this year. JCS & Camden was the best teams you guys played all year. Second round these teams were out of the playoffs. That tells me, they were not that good. Let me repeat your playoff opponents combined record was 24-21. The record of our opponents in the playoffs 29-13. That tells me we played better competition in the playoffs. Would you not agree? Hufstedler02, Loudon and CAK would have finished 2 and 3rd in your region this year. Don't you think Alcoa would have went undefeated if they played your schedule? /dry.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="

As for the game on Friday. It should be a good one. I believe the team that makes the most plays in the passing game will win. GO TORNADOES! /motorbike.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":motorbike:" border="0" alt="motorbike.gif" />

Milan's schedule this year was pretty weak but there playoff competition was just as bad. Their opponents winning percentages were 54% in the playoffs. Granted they did play BTW but it seems like they were very lucky with the draw. It you really want to break it down well here it is they beat 2-8 BTW, 2nd round 7-4 Westview,7-5 JSC team & a 9-4 Goodpasture team. This was also the weakest Goodpasture team in the last 4 years. Alcoa's road to the finals. They played a 7-3 Cumberland Gap team, 7-4 CAK, 8-4 Loudon, and 11-2 Marion County team. That's pretty revealing once you look at it.

I for one think the team that controls the others defensive line will win. Alcoa is battle tested in physical games, no doubt. I think their schedule has prepared them more for this game than Milans. That makes me think that Alcoa will pull away with this game in the fourth quarter. Alcoa 35 Milan 20

BCSportsfan, are you ignorng my bet?

He's probably (not 'prolly' you steakheads) running errands for his wife right now.

He will take you up on it I am pretty sure. Did you know he won the 'big ones' contest by a landslide last year?

He knows his stuff, even if he looks like the kid you beat up for milk money in grade school.

Get over it! These are just opinions. This is all in good fun, so have fun. I read this whole thread and just amazed at people who take this site so serious. We all can say what we want but non of it matters. The only thing that matters is the game on Friday. The players will decide the game on the field not on COACHT. This is just good jib jab in my OPINION. UNBELIEVABLE!!!

    • Congratulations to the Warrior baseball team winning the Region Championship.  Last night the football team beat Franklin Co 33-0 in their spring scrimmage. Warriors looked very good. Missing a few players who were playing baseball but still absolutely dominated. A lot of young ones got in halfway through the 3rd when the score reached 33-0. QB Tilton Pickett looked very sharp.  Sam Pickett is on another level this season. Seems to have put on 15 to 20 lbs in the off season and added a step as well. Transfer from last year Williamson caught numerous balls and is very elusive. Lots of athletes on this team. Defense was smothering and will only get better. The head coach from Sewanee was in attendance and offered 2 kids after the game. Could be a special year.
