MARYVILLE VS. BEARDEN

The Red Rebels are 8-2-1 all time against the Bulldogs. These teams haven't played since 1994 when Hammontree was the coach at MHS. Most of these players were about 3 or 4 when that game took place. How do this years teams stack up?

I am surprised the 2 two teams have played that many times. Thanks for the update!

 

I have only seen Maryville on TV against OR. Look like a typical Maryville team. Fundamental, QB with good downfield vision, and adequate defense. I did see what appeared to be a few seams in the pass defense against OR.

 

I have seen Bearden once in person. Looks like they win with defense this year. Plenty of speed, fly to the ball, only 3 DB's may make pass d a little challenging. The RB is quick and elusive, but has been bottled up a little. The QB is smallish, but has good feet and isnt careless with the ball.

 

Both teams excel in kicking game.

 

With the high rankings, this should be a barn burner!

Fellers looks two me like Mairvul will be tha underdog in this 'un.....Beer-Den iz comin' inn ranked #2.....While'st Mairvul iz ranked #5......

I wouldn't look into the rankings much. This is a Bearden team that has played the easiest schedule in the district so far. Walker Valley, Jeff Co, LC, WB, and Rhea County. None of these teams have the athletes that Maryville has. I'd look for Buddy Jones to have a big game and also Horne.

bearden has a great rb, gets better as game goes on. qb has some skills, big tight end, wr not that good, oh and a 6 foot 5 210 pound kicker/punter/safety that looks like a d1 wr.... maryville should be able to man up on the wr and give great run support and hold young to under 100, mhs 31 bhs 10

I have seen both of these teams play, Bearden once and Maryville twice. This one should be no problem for Maryville. Devrin Young is not very big but he is slippery, tough and an outstanding athlete, but no one is better than taking one player out of the game better than Defensive Coordinator, Jim Gaylor. I don't think Bearden has the athletes past Young to beat Maryville.
