"Battle of the Boro"-Round TWO!

Lost Old Dad asked a really good question on the Maryville-Farragut board. I'm going to rephase it to get your opinions. I would like to here from Oakland and Riverdale. Assuming your team wins, who would you like to face in Round 4...Maryyville or Farragut? I know, one week at a time, but let's just imagine here. Good luck to both teams, stay healthy, and I am hoping to see either team in Maryville in Round 4.

Having grown up in East TN, I am VERY familiar with the football program at Maryville. The Oakland/Riverdale matchup this weekend will be a VERY PHYSICAL football game. Hopefully, no significant injuries come out of this one. Either team will have a BIG, BIG challenge next weekend should Maryville beat Farragut (again). Personally, I can't see either one beating Maryville. However, as the old adage goes, it's awfully hard to beat a team twice. Maryville beat Farragut 35-32 in their previous meeting. That rematch has all the makings of a classic of its own.

Clearly, all of the heavyweights are in this half of the bracket. (yeah, i know, now I've made all of the Breatwood folks angry). Ah well, such is life. :popcorneater:

This game should come down to two things. Can the Warrior defense shut down the Oakland running game and will the Oakland defense make the adjustments to shut down the Warrior passing game which has made major improvements since the last time they played. If you break down the past 4 weeks head to head, you have to give the edge to the Warriors on how they played against each of there opponents and the improvements that they have made. The Warrior Defense has found there stride. I see this one close, but not that close. Riverdale 21 Oakland 10.. Get there early because there wont be a seat left in the house!!

Nevermind that Oakland has only given up 14 points in the last 5 games..............

My prediction: Oakland 21 Riverdale 14. Oakland wins because of the same reason Riverdale beat Blackman. Redemption, revenge, more motivation due to losing to them earlier in the year. Oakland will want it more than Riverdale just like Riverdale wanted it more than Blackman. Riverdale will think they want it just as much but Oakland will actually want it more. Oakland gets there chance at revenge just like Riverdale got theirs and that means a loss for Riverdale.

10-2 Blackman, Smyrna, Christian Co. ( Who is ranked in the top 10 in their class in KY.) , 9-2 Mt. Juliet and 8-4 Cookeville.

I know one thing...... There will be a handful of Memphians headed to Murfreesboro Friday to root for Coach McDaniel and the Patriots! As we traveled last week headed to Cookeville and got stuck in the worst traffic jam ever and had to turn around and come back! Good Luck to both teams!!! Just hope the Patriots can pull off ROUND TWO!!!

    • Well nothing new, the Mustangs are really talented again this coming season!  They very well could go undefeated in regular season.  We shall see what happens in postseason.  I think the path to state title game is a little clearer than years past.  I think the Stangs are going to be really good and I think the traditional teams around in 2A are not going to be as strong.  It should be a fun season!
    • I would not put too much stock into the UH over Eagleville. From what I understand they were pretty banged up in that tourney. Catcher was out, they were throwing pretty deep in their bullpen and a few key players were beat up in their infield. Sounds like they are pretty healthy heading into the district tournament. Look at their schedule, they played some really good teams.
