Best SP game ever

Will.....this game with SM be listed as a contender for Best SP Game Ever?

Old Pirate says all this chatter about SM being young and only 3 yrs old is as ole Roy would say is a bunch of mess. Facts 1. Anyone with a pulse should know SM has a huge crop of youngons running around up ther in the clouds. 2. Best of this OP's recollection is both schools are 9-12 and both have only 1-4 experience in high school futeball. Most likely SM has more seniors than SP on this years team.

Leastways this is a formal challenge to the 2010 Pirates...................... Become a team that is an obvious underdog against a much bigger program that brings home the bacon................. :thumb:

This is a bit premature O.P. Many games to be played in the future including this one could end-up a classic.

...2007, Tyner @ South Pitt, Rams driving the length of the field (SP leading by four points), with 6 seconds remaining Mckinney(SP) causes K. Johnson(Tyner) to fumble inside the 10-yard line to claim the 25-21 win. The Rams actually out gain SP in total yards 357 to 284 but only the scoreboard counts!!! That game is worthy as an all-time fantastic game!!!

I agree with this.

I believe randy kirkpatrick was that qb in 84. anyway. The best game ive ever seen and ill need a little help it was in the 90's and i believe it was cloudland. They had a bluechip QB with the best arm ive ever seen. he threw it on the run for 65 yards against us and lit us up for a unexpected 35 points in the first half. The begining play of the 3rd i believe we broke his arm and we came back to win a 36-35 barn burner. if he stayed in the game they would have killed us

Jimmy Layne was your QB for the 1984 season.

Jimmy Layne was your QB for the 1984 season.

Since you brought this post up again, the 1990 game he brought up was actually '89 against Midway and the QB was Lance Wheaton. We have discussed this game in a couple of posts. BTW, Kirkpatrick graduated in '83. Technically, if you look at the game programs in the Don Grider era, you won't see a QB listed for SP. You will see a BB.

Again the Pirates line up and Wigfall runs the famed 46 for a TD. The Pirates win their 1st State championship under 1st year head coach Don Grider.

5. Jasper vs SP 1967, 1st home game on new field against the hated Warriors

The decade of the 70s:

1. 1970 Sweetwater Wildcats vs SP at home. The Wildcats came to Beene Stadium and won the opening coin toss electing to kickoff. The opening kickoff went thru the south end zone leaving the Pirates with a long field that was ultimately the story the whole nite. The Wildcats walked off the field with a win after a hard fought game but 3 quick scoring drives and the Pirates 3 scoring drives time consuming 90 yard drives and eventually losing 21-19.

2. 1971 The Pirates seeking to avenge the only loss of 1970 travel to Sweetwater to take on the Wildcats led by Kippy Brown and Anthony Oggs. Spring Hill calls a play intended for deception time out called with time running out before the half, the head coach trots off the field soon followed by a WR who acts as if he is leaving the field of play but on the snap takes off down the side line and scores on a long bomb.

The Pirates goin for a 2 point conversion in the final seconds for the win. Carl Lehr takes the snap on “The Famed 46 play†and is incorrectly called short of the goal line. This loss still haunts Pirate fans and again left the Pirate with a silver ball.

6. 1998 SP vs Jasper, The Pirates led by Eddie Moore win avenging the 1997 loss. Eddie after having warrior fans disrespect him was on a mission and was set on taking no prisioners. The TB ran wild while leaving cleats marks on the warriors attempting to tackle him.

7. 1998 SP vs Trousdale, The Pirates go to the creekbank and lose to the Thomas Paine led Jackets. This game was of historic proportions with radio and tv stations covering this matchup between the “TOP TWO†programs of the 90s in their classification. The details provided for the 1985 and 1986 are incorrect. We played Lake Co. in 1985 and except for some gutsy play from Chris Ferrell would have gotten beat worse than we did. Sisco did have a long run but Ferrell's scrambling ability kept SP in the game. Kenny Flagg for Lake Co. pretty much dominated the Pirate D. SP had only one offensive play in the whole 4th qtr. and it was a int. Combine your details you have for 85 and 86 and you pretty much have it. Except the 86 game against Spring Hill went to OT.

Old Pirate may have a few facts confused... but not too much for a feller that has survived yars of skillet attacks. Yous a youngon and time will tell on yous too ifin yous got a skillet slinger. AL Capone is saying them skillet slingers from Jasper purt near has a bounty on OP cause theys apparently takes offense to be called SSs. :roflol:

OP agrees theys some others folkes could speak highly of but OP was gitting dizzy after a while. Recon OP will make a few corrections figure SVCfan might be correct. Leastways the games worth being mentioned.

TrainTracks says DCA 93,94 and 95 all rightfully should be mentioned as all three games were battles....Can't forget about FRA in 93 and 95 either both at there place...

Dad burnit youngon, yous needs to provide more info than that. Figure OP can use a little extra memory reminding to details yous a talking about. :popcorneater:
